Thing thing with Gordon is that even if he isnt his former self, as long as he can be hidden on defense with Brown and Tatum doing the heavy lifing and offensively he can make open shots, and find the open man on some drive, he GREATLY improves the team.

Having 5 guys that can pass, shoot, defend, and run the break is crazy.

Curious, does he need to be hidden on defense? Is he generally thought of as a poor defender? I really haven't watched him play much.

He's a great defender. 1 on 1 and team defense. Already great at switching defense like ours.

I expect that he will be the same guy on offense when he returns. His defense, however, may suffer especially first half of year. He may very well have to be hidden until his lateral quickness and ankle flexibility recovers.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

no, but I was assuming that he loses some lateral quicks

This story with the new baby girl has made the rounds.

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/gordon-hayward-clearly-disappointed-learn-151441645.html

Gordon clearly hates girls!!!!

He'll get over it. My father wanted a son too I think. And he got two daughters. And fluffy diva female cats. And just about everything female. He managed to turn one of them (me) into a sports nut though.

That’s good, I used to be an AS ROMA season ticket holder and I always used to go to the stadium with a couple of female friends, most of the more competent discussion on Soccer I have ever had took place in that car. Now I’m trying to indoctrinate my niece to the religion, right now just a tiepid supporter, the one goal I achieved tho is to convince my sister to get her to play BBall(which my niece liked but her mother though that was to tough of a game for a girl), she’s 5’11” at 12yo, that’s a no brainer....

Let's be honest..that was pretty lame though. His wife looked pretty sad about it too. Not that it's a big deal, he will obviously absolutely love his daughter but I'm not even sure why you would put that online tbh. It was a really bad reaction. Her idea clearly backfired and any logical person would keep that **** in house. Specially knowing how everything gets significantly overblown when it comes to sports stars.

I watched that video assuming that Gordon and Robyn already knew, and the balloons were to reveal the gender to the kids. Hence Gordon's muted reaction.

Gender reveals, in general, are ******* corny. I mean, it's cool to know beforehand, but to make an event out of it is just so lame to me. I think it's actually funner when you don't find out until the baby is born. Look at how happy Al and his wife look.

Well it probably should not have been shown for the entire world to see, but somehow it was. I think those things should be kept more private personally. His wife though seems to love social media.

Gordon is a good guy though, I think also there is just the mental grasping he has to do as well with having another child and also returning to the court this season and I am sure his mind has a ton of things going through it.

Gordon is always like that in every family video they take and post on Instagram. He's just a muted guy tbh I think.

Projections change as trades/signings are made.

We could easily replicate our defense from last season. Don't see a reason we can't be the top defense and a top 5 offense.

If a team can have the #1 defense with IT as the starting PG, I don't see how this team can't at least have a top 5 defense.

I watched EVERY game of the Jazz with Hayward.

He will fit perfect and not care about his stats, he just wants to win. (Plus he got paid)

He is way more athletic than people think. On the fast break he can run...
On defense, he has a decent amount of chase down blocks as well.

I will be curious on 1st lob :). They ran that play a lot with the jazz.

Back to Hayward getting paid, it would be cool if Hayward opt-ed out of his 4 year deal after the 3rd year and gave the Celtics a discount to stay here and get more Max or close to Max players.

If Hayward is back completely healthy like Paul George was after his injury, I seriously think the Celtics win the championship. He was one of the most efficient scorers in the league and imo was in that Paul George tier of top 15-20 guys in the league.

Even just 80-85% of what he was previously is a huge upgrade over the guys we plugged in there in the playoffs.

I'm still just concerned that he won't fully recover from it and be his normal pre-injury self. What are your opinions on it?

If the Celtics are all healthy, I think they could be the 14-16 GSW team.

I know, the current GSW with Durant is really hard to beat, but I can live with our chances.

I think he'll come back a little different. Even more shooting PLUS a little bigger for closer to the basket, but probably half a notch less straight athleticism.
