I’m in the few that really likes dudes like Windhorst and Stephen A Smith. I like listening to their takes.. even if I don’t always agree.

Kyrie will be a Celtic next year, and playing alongside one of either KD or AD.

Kyrie, KD and JT getting all smiley and buddy buddy at the end of the game made me wonder a bit..would be very Danny Ainge like to sell us on a AD pursuit and then go for Durant who we all know is his real desire since like..ever.

Problem is you need GSW to play along. I'm not doubting that Durant would want to come here. He almost made the choice and probably would have if GSW had won. But why would the Warriors help the Celtics and essentially lock them into a new finals rival on a yearly basis?

I have a theory that Kyrie finally told everyone he's gone and that they should focus on winning it all this year. That would probably alleviate tension in the locker room. I hope I'm wrong because the Celtics clearly need this guy so if reload wants to debunk this theory more than welcome. But I'm guessing the conversation with Danny and Brad kind of went like that.

Wouldn’t that cause more tension?

Not really. It brings rival factions together for one common goal considering the Celtics won't be in this spot again for another couple seasons. Reality check for the young guys who thought they were going to win 6 titles.

People forget he is still really young, Pierce didn't "get it" until he was pushing 30. Yeah he has been a dick most of this year, but i think people have turned on him to an unfair level.

Personally, I'm willing to give him a chance the rest of the season+playoffs, where i would say 75% of Celtic fans have completely made up their mind on him

Because they will lose him for nothing if he walks.

It could also make potential pieces in an AD trade, etc., relax, knowing there was room and opportunity and likelihood for them here next year.

But I'm not thinking he took it that far.

just because a guy is the team's best player doesn't mean he has to be the leader. kyrie is obviously pretty uncomfortable being a leader, with all the media attention and all that. so let smart be the leader, he's our emotional leader anyways.

kyrie is the best player we've had here in a while. everyone talks about how we need more superstars, then we get one and he throws a hissy fit and pouts for a few games and you want to run him out of town. all because he doesn't profess undying love for boston and everything in it. seriously, get a grip. if you are expecting every superstar to be KG in terms of leadership you are dreaming.

fortunately ainge is obviously sensible enough to know that the plucky underdog role only goes so far. this is the boston celtics, we expect championships. that doesn't happen if you don't have guys like kyrie, actually 2 or 3 of them.

I'm just wondering why OP says he still bleeds green. Did he say something in the last day or two?
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

He's still a leader on the court. An alpha. Like IT was in the fourth quarter (and all game in general).

Yes, we all know Charles Barkley opinions need to be listened too/read. Thanks for that. Oh wait, no, not clicking on that link ever.

Because KD tells them he is leaving. If KD is gone, at that point, would you rather he goes to New York and get nothing? They have no cap space in the summer (with Klay's hold) even if Durant comes off the books. Do you use the ML to sign a guy(s) to 1 year deals and wait? I guess that is possible if you think you can land a big fish in the summer of 2020 (when Draymond comes off) when only Klay and Curry would be on the books.

I think if you know he is gone, you focus on what is best for your team and organization. You don't worry about some team in the East that would only factor into a finals matchup.

Boston has the assets to give Golden State pieces to help the sustainability of the splash brothers era. That is especially true if there is no AD to Boston deal. They pretty much have no good youth at this point. You saw what kind of wing depth they have right now. If you start giving them guys like Brown, Smart, and multiple 1st round picks, all of the sudden the splash brothers future is much brighter than if you just let Durant leave. If they get Tatum in the deal, it almost becomes a no-brainer for the Warriors.

That is only true if Durant would rather play for Boston than New York though.

I just don't like him man I really tried. He is just very unlikable. I'm a die hard C's fan so I really want it to work but he's no leader in my eyes.

I feel the need to post that KD turns 31 in September. He has a few years of elite left for sure, but we wouldn't be dynastic.

Return to Boston Celtics
