I wasn’t excited about the pick. One thing I will say, however, is that the separation he gets from his step-back footwork is something else. He can get his shots off in the NBA.

Re: Romeo Langford Thread
I hear Langford is off the table in a potential Giannis deal. Kid is the real deal.

Him and Tatum. My sources confirmed this.

Good assessment:
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

Re: Romeo Langford Thread
You guys don't realize how good this guy is finishing at the rim. Makes Kyrie look like Tatum.
Also, he is better with the ball in his hands, has decent handles and can execute good (not great) passes. That means more 3D&Slashing Jaylen Brown than wood-handles "I'll create my shot" Jaylen Brown.
And he has all the tools to be a good defensive player, only needs some tweaks off-ball were he gets sometime disengaged

Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Re: Romeo Langford Thread
I am worried about his shot...his release does not look good and its not just due to the injury, IMO.
We really need shooters on this team...the problem is we seem to be terrible at developing guys who are bad shooters…

All 5 of his weakness made me think this isn't a CBS pick, if I had to bet money aint no way I would have seen the pick coming had I done a little research b4 the draft. He is only 19 though, pretty much putty to mold into something beautiful, his strengths and body seems like it could work well for us but he better be pliable!
Holy ****. All the things I hated about Kyrie's game and frustrated me about how our team played... he has all of 'em lol.
It’s a Brad pick because Indiana though

Prior to draft I thought he was a shooter. Watching his highlights I too was impressed with his handles and his finish. The guy is smooth and strong. If his shot is decent and he is coachable we will be happy with the pick. Hearing Brad talk about him makes me doubt rumors we picked him for another team.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

The thing that makes this draft pick pretty much impossible to assail is his thumb injury. If his shooting was majorly impacted by the thumb, he's a good get. If it wasn't the cause and he can't shoot.... well.....

Don't know about his shot, but every indication is that he is very coachable...the biggest reason Brad was so high on him, I'm sure

"There is no question about Langford’s work ethic. The staffer asserts he’s very coachable, is a great teammate, isn’t confrontational and certainly isn’t “soft” as some perceive him to be."
edit: Also an interesting bit from the article: "Looking at ball screen and pick-and-roll statistics on Synergy, he and Michigan State’s Cassius Winston were two of the top players in the country."
I bet I know what Brad's looking for more of this year.

Definitely going to be a project. As long as he makes improvements from year to year I will be fine with this pick.

I hear Romeo’s agent is Happy. He is really really Happy. No I’m serious.....he is Happy!
He also said Celtics were one his top 2 choices and he thinks playing next to bulldogs like Marcus and Rozier will “amplify his go 1000% mentality”.

Re: Romeo Langford Thread
I assume the idea is to convert him into a PG? With Hayward, Brown, Tatum, and Smart ahead of his on the depth chart on the wing that would seem the only way for him to get decent minutes barring an injury or trade.

Not the guy i was expecting or wanted but after reading more about him he's growing on me. High recruit coming into college that had an injury and seems like he didnt fit the Indiana system well. I see a potential starter key role player type guy.

We'll be playing a lot of smallball is my guess. Lots of Hayward at the 4.
Probably 15-20 mpg as a rook.
I think his PNR game will ensure that he doesn't get completely lost in the rotation. That's something Brown and Tatum don't have and something Smart and Rozier need help with.

Im fine with the pick if we’re planning on trading Jaylen. Otherwise, I question if its wise to draft a 2/3 who is blocked at PT by multiple other high lottery picks

I think it's more likely they push more smallball. Romeo is not a PG or a combo guard even. He's a wing scorer who uses the PNR heavily. Can pass some, but not a floor general.
