Lonzo Ball 2018-19: 6-6 9,9pts 5,3reb 5,4asis 0,4blocks 40%FG 41%FT
Tacko Fall 2018-19 7-7 11,1pts 7,6reb 0,5asis 2,6blocks 75%FG 36%FT
:D Doesn't look that bad to me...

This last season was his worst in free throws, he was over 55% a couple years ago. I wanna believe that he can be a situational player, useful to release against big slow bodies to protect the rim, and make the fouls you don't want your starter center do.
And, if he is able to improve a little his foot movement and return to a 55%FT or above... then he can make it to the roster.

I know it's not rational, but I read an article about this kid 3 years ago and I losely followed him over the time. Watched a few of his games this year.

I know the odds of him every playing a meaningful time in the NBA is low, but hey, you never know. He will be my binky and I'm going to cheer for him as long as he's part of the celtics or red claws.

He has worked very hard on his body the last 4 years in college and has really improved his body. hes now working with drew on his game. Maybe by 28 he'll be playable as a backup like Boban is.

Make a choice for the last second rounder.

Michael Ojo

or

Isaac Humphries

or

Przemek Karnowski

Tacko Fall fell out of the draft, back to school, would have been an option.

A basketball team used to have 5 or 6 really tall players, the Celtics have one.

6-7, 6-7, 6-7, 6-4, 6-6, 6-0, 5-11, 6-10. That isn't a basketball team, more of a volleyball team and not a good one of those.

All these people who cry for "diversity" but then don't want anyone taller than 6-7 on a basketball team?

The NBA "experts" who say he will struggle on defense, all the "they will put him a pick-and-roll with Curry and he won't be able to stop it", why care about that silly idea. In this so-called "system" that the Celtics have now, which has never won, the defense in big games was not caring and allowing an easy screen to have LeBron guarded by Isaiah Thomas. A 7-7 player is not bad for defense.

In the past, when there were many more intelligent coaches, every little advantage was grasped. People forget to do that now. Last second play, you put giant height on the ball to block inbound passing angles. Last second lob play, you park Tacko and R Williams under the basket with another tall playing throwing the pass in. You then trick the other team as those players set a screen so Tatum catches the lob for the dunk. Need a rebound on a free throw in the last seconds, need to miss a free throw on purpose for a tip-in, a 7-7 player helps the team.

Even in practice, very useful to have. To see the low-IQ Celtics thinking they could throw little passes over Gobert, not naming the players but might have names like Marcus and Terry, putting a 7-7 guy on the practice court will mean nice fadeaway and high-arcing shots are developed, scoring that was common with Bird and Parish.

Right now, Tacko is the 6th most useful Celtic under contract.

Even when other rookies sign, might still be 6th most useful. Romeo only plays if two or three Celtics at his position are hurt. Max Strus, Romeo's backup option.

If just a practice player for Bobby Blocks, a useful addition, if they add Fall in the fall. You want Williams hitting hook shots over Tremont Waters and thinking he is a scoring star ready for the NBA scoring title?

Celtics need all the publicity they can get, which isn't just bad news. Signing tallest guy ever to play, good news. Could have also signed Charlie Brown, and paid him peanuts. Atlanta might have signed him.

Did have free taco wins at an NBA game. The Celtics won, but since the home team scored enough it was free tacos for everyone in the crowd.

If Tacko were to read some of these posts about him never being about to play in the NBA and believing this negativity, he would never make it to he NBA.

But fortunately for Tacko, he is a very smart kid proven by his grades. He is a hard worker based on the improvements he has made in his game and on his body.

7’7, a solid 290 lbs with low body fat. Smart, hard working kid. I’m sure he will ignore the naysayers, believe in myself, continue to hard hard and make it in the league. Boban made it and is a solid player in short spurts. Tacko can make it too. It’s not all that far stretched.

0% chance at 1 meaningful NBA minute.

Tacko and Tremont on the court together will make for the best visuals. And I don't completely rule him out.

When I grew up, a restaurant we frequented had a lot of celebrity photos. One was of Wilt Chamberlain sitting next to a standing Willie Shoemaker. (Famous jockey) I think Wilt was the slightly taller of the two.

Could be interesting though when he and Bol Bol meet?

Total slow motion freak show!

One could just stand in front of his basket and wait for a pass...While the other could do the same on the other end....

No need to walk up and down the court

At half time you could just leave them standing out there to play defense in the 2nd half! :D

Oh I love this signing for the pure entertainment value alone. But he will never be a rotation player in the NBA. Never ever ever.

I kid cuz I can....couldn't be any worse then Henry Finkel was back in the day?...He always got a huge cheer from the fans for his "garbage time" heroics! :)

I never heard of Henry Finkel before he was a pretext for part of Tommy's recent HOF speech.

He can't shoot at all, it seems, but he's pretty good at placing the ball into the basket.

Seriously, he looks as stiff in that video as the detractors say, and his strength appears to be so-so.

I watched that old video of Tacko pretty much laughing at how easy our schoolwork is. Every time people from other countries talk about our educational system, it's like a chorus, they seem to all say our curriculum is SOO much easier. It's because our country doesn't really care about education, it's get them in and gets them out to work and keep our country wealthy. How we are always near or at the bottom in education is f'd. Most of the time we are taught stuff that does not help at all in the real world and by taught, I'm talking just enough to barely pass tests and then it all goes out the window. We are #1 and that's all that matters!

We're really veering off topic here, but I chalk it up largely to the ed schools and teachers unions, because we used to do so much better. We know that phonics works teaching reading to kids and yet that is constantly resisted in our public schools. Whether malpractice or outright criminal, what we do to our children today with education is horrific. It starts with setting many boys hopelessly behind because we don't make them competent readers, then spreads through the writing, math and history especially that are simply taught criminally wrong--insofar as they (e.g., history) are taught at all.

The gap is biggest between those African and Caribbean students who make it here and our own African-American communities, leading to inevitable friction between the groups.

In 1951 or so, my mother wrote a paper for one of her ed school classes about why European secondary schools taught so much more than American ones did.

Let's see how he does against grown men. Dude can only put on weight and strength.
He has soft touch, good footwork and is very, very smart with strong work ethic. 4.0 GPA and honors in Math or something. lol.
I would have rather punted on Bol Bol, but nothing wrong with taking a flyer like this on a guy with the right attitude and obvious intelligence to do whatever he can to get as good as he can possibly get.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Bleeding Green wrote:Tacko Fall is so bad, dunno what anyone sees in him. Do you think he could even pretend to stay on the court for one defensive possession against an NBA team? Sideshow player, have fun in China or something, bro. He will be 100 pct attacked every defensive possession just like someone like Boban, except at least Boban is freakishly strong in the post and is an automatic 2 pts every time down the court so it evens out. Tacko Fall is an eight foot pylon who shoots 36 pct from the FT line. He'll be fun for some summer league highlights and hopefully there will be some meme-able clips of him not even being able to run the length of the court or something.

When people look at Tacko Fall, what do they envision his absolute ceiling to be? He's the least agile player in the history of the NBA, he can't shoot, he's 10 feet tall and likely made of glass. Any good big will be able to box him out with ease, but sure he can snag some cheap rebounds over shorter players and I bet he'd be able to swat a few fun blocks. You legit will not even be able to run an offense with him on the court. It'll be 4v5 until he shows up in the halfcourt with 12 seconds left on the shotclock.

While I agree with most of what you're saying, to say he's the least agile player in NBA history might be a stretch. I can think of guys that played in the league (not today) that were slower than Tacko.

Your criticism are a bit exaggerated and harsh. If this was 15-20 years ago he would have gotten drafted yesterday easily. He was born in the wrong era.

What era would he have been drafted in? Even his closest comp, Manute Bol, was drafted in a round that no longer exists and that was closer to 40 years ago. Dude is completely immobile. I'm not even remotely seeing how he could be used in an NBA game except in some sort of late game situation where you need a tall guy to bother the inbounder or on some kind of inbounds play where you just lob it up to him for a tip in. He is unbelievable slow. He can bother shots at the rim, but I don't see how it matters if he will just get destroyed in PnR he'll just be a foul machine. At least he'll be fun to watch for a bit as a sideshow in SL.

Inbound botherer? Sweet, 30 years later we finally replace Stojko!

With so many NBA games decided by couple of points there has to be a way to use a guy like him. Today's coaches cannot think it would appear.

I want him to succeed. Just playing basketball for 8 years. He doesn't look like a skinny fragile overly tall big anymore. Dude has put on some serious mass for his size.

Hope he figures it out like Roy Hibbert did when he played for the Pacers. He could become the kryptonite for Giannis.
