On the one hand it bites. On the other hand I am excited to see other players try to step up. Time to earn your next contract. Course it might just end up being Marcus Smart putting up 30 shots a game and that could get ugly real quick.

This **** sucks though, and it's likely gonna continue throughout the season. Just hope our players are responsible and are not needlessly exposing themselves to large groups of people.

I think it could be 8, depending on the clock start. Regardless, a brutal time to lose him. Need to get Kemba back ASAP.

Not sure if this is the most brutal time to lose him as I’d rather have it now than later. If we get close to the playoffs or in the playoffs and things don’t change significantly, then the league may need to shut it down.

It seems the players don’t care much about the regular season, which looks like scrimmages and a lot of letting guys “get theirs”. There’s no reason to make a big deal about home court advantage, because there’s no home court, per se, just some bull piped in crowd noise that I’m not even sure the players hear, or care to hear.

So I’m ok with some light entertainment and seeing deeper bench players get their chance to shine. Better to stay healthy and hopefully we’ll see the team at full strength and less restrictions in place when the games really matter.

Just when the team was clicking too

Timing could've been worse I guess, we might be able to scrounge a few wins from the Bulls/Magic/Knicks

I'm sitting here trying to piece together the rotation and convince myself we'll still be competitive.

But, the real issue is, it feels pretty darned unlikely this will be the last player to get quarantined. It feels like it's only accelerating. What happens when 2 or 3 more go out in the next couple of days?

How's this actually normal? I mean if he doesn't have covid why does he have to quarantine for 14 days? If this is how it goes, league could quarantine whoever they want to whenever they want to.
Good assessment:

It will be Smart taking 15-20 shots a game.

Seems that the Celtics have made the most of these kinds of situations so far and we are seeing several guys step up. Will be interesting to see who benefits.

By the way, for those suggesting that the vaccine will solve this, you should know that none of the trials conducted shows the vaccines stop or slow the spread, just that they reduce symptoms. So I wouldn’t place so much hope on a vaccine.

The issue with a player who's not ready, is that it's better to get him minutes surrounded by good players, so he's got a really solid framework around him of guys doing what they're supposed to do, getting him the ball in the right spots, not blowing their defensive assignments all around him, etc.

When you throw a guy who's not ready into the fire with a bunch of other guys who are not able to handle their role very well (not that they suck, but just that they're being asked to do way more than they should be), it just becomes a ****-show. The young player has a hard enough time doing the right thing even when everything around them is running smoothly, let alone when everything around them is a mess.

I'm not saying don't give Nesmith minutes. We're running out of bodies, so you might as well. I just really would expect him to look pretty awful under these circumstances.

I would love to be wrong. I would love him to take a stranglehold on the opportunity and never give it back. We'll see.

What is scary is it's only 2 weeks into the season. This is going to continue to happen every 2 or 3 weeks.

Fair to say that after this, Brown will be the third leading scorer in the NBA.

Also looking for Pritchard, Semi, and Tacko (yes, I said it) to step it up. This is going to be very interesting.

According to an NBA source, Robert Williams, Grant Williams, Carsen Edwards, and Thompson recently rode in a car together, with Edwards the lone player wearing a mask. Edwards was cleared to play Friday against Washington because he was not considered a close contact. Grant Williams and Thompson, however, were considered risks.

It’s uncertain how Tatum contracted the virus, but according to the league’s research by medical experts, it’s nearly impossible to pass the virus during an NBA game because according to the Center for Disease Control’s website, transmission risk is with an “individual who has had close contact [within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more].”

According to NBA research, players are not in close contact with each other for remotely close to 15 minutes during a game.

Celtics players and other members of the organization were tested twice on Friday. According to the league source, Tatum tested negative in the first test but positive in his second. The team then canceled Saturday’s practice and informed members of the organization that the Auerbach Center would be shut down, preventing players from using the facility for treatment or workouts.

This is the real issue with Nesmith. No offseason, no training camp, no preseason, and heavily restricted practice time due to fewer days off and covid-precautions.

If he's completely lost on the court, he's not getting much out of those minutes. And, there just aren't the reps available elsewhere to get him up to speed.

I just don't think we can reasonably expect him to get on a very good trajectory this year, the way things are going. But, that's why we get them for four years. Might have to live with some delayed gratification here.

Well Tatum tested positive. The wizards and Celtics should both quarantine but i's not going to happen. They'll just test the guys and if they're negative they'll play tomorrow.
