Olynyk at the minimum is even better

I think Mo Wagner is going to have a real opportunity to stick around in Boston. Celtics need big men and Wagner will get a chance to show the Celtics if he can do something.
If Wagner shows something I wouldn’t be surprised if the Celtics make him the “New Theis” and sign him to something like a 2 year deal at $3-3.5 million per year. It’s up to Wagner to show something

He is better than Grant.

I disagree. Grant's defense has been getting back to where he was last year, he can play in the post when he gets the opportunity, and he's shooting over 40% from 3 on the season. He's versatile as a switcher on defense which is really important to our defense getting back to respectability. I'm not against Wagner, I've got a soft spot for guys that play hard all the time, but Grant's stock as a bench player is on the rise for me.

Wagner ranks better defensively in every single metric over Grant.
Wagner is as quick as Grant as well, so switching really isnt an issue.

Where are you looking at the metrics for this? Not arguing the point but I'd like to check it out.

Thanks. It's basically the same thing I'm seeing, neither really stands out in career numbers. Grant a little better at blocks, Mo a little better at steals, Grant a little better at 3's, Mo a little better overall offensively, etc. Surprising really. Career DRTG is almost identical, Grant has an advantage in DWS and DPBM. I'm not saying I totally understand the source of those numbers but Wagner doesn't rank better in every defensive metric by any means. Both, in their very young careers, are pretty mediocre by most measures.

If you look at careers yeah, look at just this season. Wagner is better

Combine numbers mean nothing to me. The question is, can Wagner play basketball in the context of what the Celtics are trying to do? Grant Williams has shown the ability to do that--sometimes. Wagner has shown nothing so far.
