There is no PF role any more in NBA, haven't you got the memo? There are 3 guards, and 2 bigs. They should be interchangeable.

Re: OUR BIGGEST NEED - PF
I got faith in Doogie Hauser, MD.
But this year? Idk. It's difficult for me to evaluate anything off of summer league play. Really not great competition, but watching his highlights from college, he's no scrub. Plus he played for Marquette; there have been some real diamonds that came from that place (Jimmy Buckets, Crowder).
I think put him in the G league (wish Juhann was going there too tbh), and let him develop for a year then bring him on over next year. Sign Millsap as a vet leader of sorts for the kiddos and call it a roster.

bisme37 wrote:I don't really think Hauser is a PF. I mean offensively you can play him there in a position-less lineup. But defensively I don't love him guarding bigger stronger players. He's pretty thin and visibly not 6'8". Then again I don't love him guarding smaller quicker players either. This dilemma is probably why he went undrafted. Love his shooting and overall offense though and I think he can help.
This is all a proper concern. and No, I do think bigger and stronger over time will help. But it is balance of things he can do well vs things he can't. and My whole stance is his positives (potential elite shooter) outweighs his lack of size defense.
I am hoping Boston can hide/help him on defense more than Boston could help/hide (Semi-Pro) or (Can't Williams) or Maye even Romeo hit those outside shots.

Call it what you will but you still need bigs that can play to consistently win in the NBA.

I think Marvin Bagley would be a good get. Pure PF (rather than just another wing), good upside, zero long term commitment. Don't know what the Kings want back in return.

Low risk high reward. Grant and Dunn, my choice, they say No, I come back with Grant and Romeo..

Re: OUR BIGGEST NEED - PF
Hawks are trying to move Cam Reddish. I don't know what they want for him. I know he hasn't shown much since he was drafted but I am convinced Reddish will become a solid wing defender with the size to play the PF position and stretch the floor as well.

They have a bunch of PGs already, it would prob take Romeo and Grant, if they'd even consider it

Jarred Vanderbilt fits the bill. As a backup to Tatum who can play defense and hit the boards. Not worth Bob Williams, but maybe for Romeo.

Reddish, Jamykal Green, Jaden McDaniels, Boucher, Knox, Washington, Aminu, Clarke, tillman, Little, K. WIlliams,
I still like Dunn and Romeo and Edwards for Aminu and Walker
Also like the Romeo and Edwards for K. Williams
Perhaps Romeo for Knox works
Would like Boucher as well but not sure how that would work without including a pick.
Reddish, not sure what his value is at all.

I thought Isaiah Roby would be a good backup 4 (and 5 for small ball). Maybe Edwards/Langford and a future 2nd or two.

his Brother on Char as well. almost same player. Char has way too many forwards now. need a trade. Don't think we have anything they need/want though.

I thought Vanderbilt was a free agent. He is not?

Oh yeah I think he is restricted because they offer him the QO. Could do a little sign and and trade maybe? Or just sign him straight up?

I liked him earlier, but haven't followed him lately. I don't see us doing an S&T though, definitely not the guy you hard cap yourself for. If MIN lets him walk and if we can unload some other guys and get him for a min while being under the tax still, I'd be interested in him as a flier. Lot of ifs, though.

Probably makes sense for them to trade him - highly unlikely they can pay him and he’s probbaly going to be asking for 15-20m per year ? He was averaging somewhat fine numbers but he doesnt see the floor that much. I guess he isnt living up to expectations is he ?

I don't know what is going on with him, but a quick search suggests that he is unhappy with his role in Sacramento and that the Kings have been shopping him.
They also have questionable depth @ PF, and if they give Bagley a sizable role they can probably up his trade value. So maybe they decide to keep him for now.

Unfortunately Cavs can get much better players for Nance, IMO. But this trade would be perfect for the Celtics. I would throw in a couple of seconds as well...

Re: OUR BIGGEST NEED - PF
the thing people need to remember when discussing adding a PF is the how big of a matchup nightmare Tatum is at the 4. Durant is one of the bigger 4's out there. at 6'10", 240 lbs. Durant is also very quick for his size. Yet Durant went on record saying how difficult it was for him to guard Tatum:
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10004881-kevin-durant-praises-elite-jayson-tatum-it-was-an-honor-to-play-against-him
Considering Durant is one of the quicker 4's out there, Tatum will really make life miserable for the other 4's in the league who aren't as quick (or as big) as Durant.
