We can play Tatum on 4.

Smith is also very good rim protector, he can shoot 3, rebound, nice fit for this team too.

Add some vet like Lance, he can shoot and guard, add one more Champ veteran to this team.

Smart Hali Brown Tatum Rob
PP Lance S. Grant J.Smith Al

Larry please trade Hali to us.

I believe Jalen Smith's a UFA. Therefore, he'll likely go somewhere with ample playing time, which isn't Boston.

Unless something unexpected happens with Horf...

Smart / Pritchard
Brown / White
Tatum
Horford / GWill
Timelord

I would say these 8 players are set in stone. We would then need an upgrade over Theis and Nesmith.

I agree with the above statement, however I have the roster like this going forward.

Smart, White, Pritchard
Brown, Nesmith, Stauskas or FA
Tatum, (2nd priority) Hauser
Horford, G. Will, (1st priority)
Timelord, Theis, (1st priority)

I feel strongly that those 11 will be back.
1st thing is to find a better and bigger big than G.Will and Theis to develop as replacement for Horford when he becomes our big man coach in 3 years (lol), and insurance for Timelord when he goes down.
2nd thing is we REALLY need to find a backup to Tatum. An older vet that can still score would be ideal.

I can see Stevens moving Pritchard to a team that isn't as reliant on switching, and keeping Nesmith because Nesmith's trade value likely sucks, whereas Pritchard has some value.

The top 1-7 likely stay put and can see Stevens trying to add a vet like Jeff Green or Thad Young with the MLE.

Hasn’t Huerter’s name been thrown out there? Do you guys think he’d be a possible / wiry while best addition we could add if it was Atlanta looking to move on from him? 17 mil per. Nesmith and a 1st? Possible? Not enough? Too much? Atlanta love him?

Expensive for the role he'd be playing here.
Also I've not heard anything about Atlanta trying to move on from him or Atlanta wanting to shed payroll.

I've brought him up a lot. I don't think ATL would be interested in moving him to us for a pick. But I could see them moving him as part of a trade with another team who's rebuilding and would prefer a pick from us and the salary relief of sending him into our trade exception. Like let's say ATL traded Huerter and a pick to DET for Jerami Grant... I could see Pistons preferring to send him over to us for a pick instead of keeping him. Those are the scenarios I've brought him up in.

The Hawks themselves now got pushed into the luxury tax by Trae hitting all NBA and earning his extension escalator. Could force them to cut some cost themselves.

We'd be assuming a 4 year, $65M extension on Huerter that kicks in this year. Would make for a very expensive team this year. It's long-term manageable with Horford's huge deal expiring after next season. Basically you'd be reallocating Horford's salary slot to Huerter and Grant's extension. If Horford is worth keeping around then you'd probably need to move Theis in his last year to accommodate.

I'm on an Alec Burks into TPE kick today. Cheaper than some of the other options $-wise. Really good 3 pt shooter. Ball handler. Good size. Might be a little too Shrodery, but maybe not beyond hope that we can fix him.

I don’t see Pritchard going anywhere just yet. He’s a shooter. And has come up big for us recently.

Agree with the MLE part.

Trade Theis + Nesmith to SA and get Jrich back then sign a depth big with the MLE. Fill out the roster with ring chasers

I doubt Pritchard has any trade value. Just not the type of player anyone would really give value for.

Washington has a glut of SF/PF tweeners in Avdija, Kispert, Hachimura, and Kuzma. The first three are pretty unproven and on rookie scale deals. Kuzma only makes 13M. He'd be a nice bench piece if he could be had.

Of course he has value. You think you can get cost-controlled shooters for free?

Garrison Matthews, Sam Hauser, Matt Thomas all signed as free agent for free.
Bryan Forbes was a throw in in a trade involving Bol Bol and Juan Hernangomez.

Hart, Barnes, kuzma and burks looks like the best and most realistic options to get a good player.

Pedantic negative indicator supporting my point here. Unfortunately he’s their best trade asset on the roster, but silver lining is he’s clearly outplayed his draft slot and retains that level of value in the right deal.

That would be nice but I don't think so. Spot-up shooters are a dime a dozen.

I strongly believe the following will happen.

Theis/Nesmith/Picks for BPA (starting PF) (Looking at roughly 15.4-15.6 Million incoming salary)

TPE will bring back Josh Richardson.
MLE/TPE will be vet depth.

2022-2023 roster.

Smart/Pritchard
Brown/White
Tatum/Richardson
Trade/GrantW
Timelord/Horford

Return to Boston Celtics
