I think Ime should stick with a 9-man rotation.

Theis got some action in the 1st half of Game 1.

If Theis is effective, even for limited minutes only, I think it will keep Al fresh for the 4th qtr.

PP should also continue getting minutes, especially if GSW continues to double Tatum.

Tatum should be surrounded by shooters if GSW continues to double him.

Yeah he did. The extra days off really help.

But he's still not nearly where he was before the surgery.

Right. He looked okay. But theres also a big difference between being able to block shots and getting a burst to get a lob.

1:50 to 2:50 of this video...

Like I mentioned in the G1 PG thread, JB scored or assisted on 20 of the Cs 23 pts to start the 4th so his shotmaking/playmaking extended into the start of the 17-0 run. Halfway thru the Q, we were tied w/ the Warriors.

This team will get so much more dangerous when guys figure out that "pump fake to get the guy in the air, lean in to draw the contact, then take the shot as the whistle blows" move that Pierce, and frankly most great scorers have.

So many of their guys kind of freeze while the defender has his **** hanging out in mid-air after a pump fake. They just don't punish that often enough imo.
Edit: it's really like this team is a bunch of gentlemen after a guy bites on a pump fake - "oh pardon, let me help you get reset and then we can continue."

Disagree on playing Theis more. I think this is a series where Tatum should play more at the 4 actually. I don't think you need a 4th big...

PG: Smart (36), White (12)
SG: Brown (16), White (18), Pritchard (14)
SF: Tatum (24), Brown (24)
PF: Horford (12), GWilliams (20), Tatum (16)
C: RWilliams (24), Horford (24)

That's how I'd line up the rotations

40 minutes each for Tatum/Brown
36 minutes each for Smart/Horford
30 minutes for White
24 minutes for RWilliams
20 minutes for GWilliams
14 minutes for Pritchard

The way Golden State puts the bigs in screen action I think we might need to play a little smaller than usual to matchup.

Exactly, and they don't have the bigs to punish our wings or guards on switches.

Horford plays incredible when he is rested. Two days off between game is huge for him .

Just looking at warriors, who scored more than 25+ besides Stef?

They need Klay to be Klay.

I'm mentally preparing myself for this game to be a Scott Foster masterclass ref show of epic proportions......

Still confident the Celtics win again though.

They would definitely try to go out guns blazing for game 2. Curry won’t have that kind of shooting to start the game. If we get those rebounds, and JT plays better, then we have a good chance of beating them again. If they get hot or on good runs, we just need to keep it close, and try to punch them in the face again in the 4th. All the pressure is on them.

Imagine this older GSW team playing this series every other night. Maybe they bounce back but they don't look like they have the legs for it.

I'd be happy with a split but I'd love it even more, like every other Celtic fan, If they can win both.

I don't know if Horford and smart shoot that well again, but I'm guessing Tatum won't shoot that poorly either.

I'm just hoping the team comes out like It's an elimination game and not a home game.

I think they should get greedy, and try to win every game and not be contented.

He was -961 in like 48 minutes played the last time he saw the court. He should never see the court again. He’s a regular season minutes eater against lesser players who consistently gets clowned in the post season when the level of play elevates. Theis sucks.

good lord, you can't be serious. Nesmith is a shooter who can't hit a shot and is like a deer in the headlights out there.

Theis was our center when we made it to the ECF just 2 yrs ago - he's just as good (if not better) than he was then. You're comparing apples to oranges.

Theis hit a 3 last night (something Nesmith hasn't been able to do) and he can also block shots, like this one in the last series we just played vs Miami:

Future hall of famer Draymond Green gets a rebound over him and all of a sudden he's trash

Theis has a solid defender, rebounder, rim protector who is really good at setting screens, as well as sealing off his man so Tatum can drive to the basket. He's tough, physical, probably the strongest dude on the team outside of Grant. He's fearless, doesn't back down from anyone. If he gets 5 minutes a game, I'm not losing sleep. For crying out loud, that's all he got last night and we won in a blowout. Like honestly, what are we complaining about here lol
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Golden state has championship DNA and won’t go quietly. I expect them to win Game 2, because they know that if they don’t, then this series is essentially over.

Horford, White, and Smart won’t shoot that well again. But hopefully Tatum doesn’t shoot that poorly again either. Warriors will make adjustments as they do. Klay and Poole will play better. So will Draymond. Hopefully Boston can withstand their runs and at least keep it close down the stretch to give themselves a chance.

So yea I expect this to go back to Bean-town 1-1. But man would it be sweet to somehow steal another one…
