Hell no. Brown is a big part of this team’s identity. They’d be soft as **** with this trade.

I think you're underrating Kyrie's uniqueness. He's much more likely to sail his team off the rim of the Earth than Durant is.
I could be talked into trading for Durant.
Nah, KD is as fickle as his bff is. Heck he cant even handle success right when he was in GS.

What makes you think Jaylen isn't soft? What are some things that an NBA player does that makes them hard rather than soft, and do you think Jaylen is good at those things?

He’s been the Celtics most consistent playoff performer over the years, stepping it up when it matters most and okaying good D. KD and Tatum is a soft jump shooting pairing.

Tatum drives more than Jaylen, and gets to the line more than Jaylen.
At least be accurate in your reasoning.

Stuff like this makes the board fun. Everyone here has been wrong a bunch, and will continue to do so.
KD being the much better player the next couple of years really isn’t debatable though.
We’ll see. Set an alarm for 2025 my friend!

So I’ll ask this differently.
Do you think KD drops to a top 20 or lower guy? Or do you think Jaylen jumps to a top 10 guy? Because he’s going to be 26 when the season starts, huge jumps almost never happen after that.

Jaylen spends 80% of his time on offense standing around in the wings, never sets picks, doesn't box out, fights teammates for boards, doesn't fight through screens, and is generally indifferent to the concept of defensive rotation. Tatum drives to the basket more than Jaylen, gets to the line more, takes more shots within 3 feet of the rim.
Tatum also plays more minutes, doesn't miss entire playoffs due to injury, and plays hurt.
Tatum also guards the opposing team's best players.

Most consistent playoff performer? I mean, he missed the entire 2021 post season. He was the most consistent in rounds 1-3 this year? I feel we are letting the finals affect our senses.

Efficiency? Just going by eye test i would reason JB is more efficient at finishing at the rim.

So I’d guess you think Durant falls off quite a bit?
Yes, no, and yes.
This year KD got the 8th most points in all-NBA voting and his one 5th-place vote for MVP put him in a 3-way tie for 10th place in MVP voting.
Don’t have to scroll up much to find someone calling him a “top 3” player in the league. I’ve loved him since Texas and still do, and am glad he’s made it back from his Achilles tear, but I’d be stunned if the Celtics traded Jaylen for him. If they do, I’ll get into it and root for him. But give me the longer window, easily.

That's debatable but not relevant to how "hard" Jaylen is compared to Tatum and KD.
KD by the way barely took a shot at the rim but still had .634 TS% for the season. It's unreal how good he is.

Bar Fight wrote:MagicBagley18 wrote:Bar Fight wrote: You said trading for KD is a matter of “do you enjoy winning championships or not”. As if KD has Michael Jordan's resume or something and even having him on the team is a lock for a title. If that was the case, he would have won in Brooklyn. Or OKC. Or...literally anywhere outside of the dynastic Warriors. And again, this is an older version of that KD.
He's 34 years old. And injury prone. And hasn't won **** outside of the dynasty he joined that would win with or without him. Acting like not wanting to trade a 25 year old all star who was the second best player on our Finals team is rejecting the opportunity for championships is ridiculous. We were JUST competing for a championship weeks ago. With a hobbled/fatigued team. With two young stars who aren't in their prime yet. Saying the decision is down to "do you want championships or not" is ridiculous and insulting.
No that’s how you took it....if you add KD to to this team and subtract Jaylen we are a championship favorite. Heavy favorite. Not celebrating winning 2 games in the finals. Also I was quoting someone who had a funny line but FYI Kevin Durant is closer to Michael Jordan than Jaylen brown is to being all nba so your diss isn’t that off lol.
It’s not about wanting or advocating just to trade brown- it’s advocating trading brown for Kevin Durant......this is a ridiculous conversation. He’s a 25 year old 1 time all star pleas stop talking about this guy like he’s coming off 3 straight all star games. He’s a very good player- top 30 or so in the league.
The Celtics are sitting home if Middleton is healthy. Point blank period. Not really a diss because the bucks are really really good with a generational talent but get real- we went 7 with them and won by an ass hair without the bucks 2nd best player and arguable best half court shot creator.
Again you are completely diminishing EVERYTHING KD did before golden state- like lead a team to the finals at like 24 as the lead dog, win an mvp, things that jaylen at his best won’t sniff. No one just wants to trade Jaylen we are talking about trading him for KD- it’s not some bum so again get **** reallllllllllll
Just like Brooklyn with KD/Harden/Kyrie was a heavy favorite. Until you know, injuries and dysfunction landed them in the very position we are discussing right now with KD being in trade talks. Again, younger version closer to his peak too.
A 34 year old KD is not a lock for a title at all. We'd have 1-2 years where we'd have a real shot before the decline begins (if it doesn't begin earlier).
JB was the second option (and arguably our best player in the NBA Finals) on a Finals team at 25. A part of a core who has had incredible success together at a young age. Like...no other teams in this position are even considering breaking it up lol. You're acting like KD isn't in his mid 30s lol. KD before Golden State was in his mid 20s. And he still wasn't a "lock" for the Finals/a title playing with another young superstar. We aren't getting that KD.
You only have Jaylen for 2 more years guaranteed anything after that is conjecture and guessing. Again, no one wants to break the team up, we are hypothetically talking about trading Jaylen and fillers for Kevin Durant while maintaining smart/rob/horford/Tatum.
Kevin Durant on a 50% decline is still better than Jaylen brown. I think this is the disconnect you seem to be missing. It’s not even a knock on brown it’s a testament to how good Durant is. This is just insane stuff from a fan base that just irrationally loves a pretty good player. It’s beyond laughable at this point.
Kawhi for brown? 1 year rental. Got it. Ad? Didn’t wanna come here. Check. Harden? Character issues/didn’t wanna be here. Those are like legit reasons to be against a deal even ones I’d still have done. If you won’t trade Jaylen brown for a top 3 guy in the nba whose STILL playing at an mvp level - it’s just a disingenuous conversation anymore at this point.
Keeping 4 starters and adding KD IS not breaking up the team.....the only thing it’s breaking is j anon hearts

Over the last two regular seasons, Tatum takes 21% of his shots within 3 feet, and shoots 73.8%.
In that same time, Jaylen has taken 19.8% of his shots within 3 feet, and is shooting 73.5%.
This past playoffs though, Jaylen shot 68.8% within 3 feet, on 18% of his shots. Tatum shot 64.3% on 18% of his shots.
The eye test can be very misleading lol, for myself included, and I think the finals has warped reality a bit for some people. Tatum drives more, has shot more at the rim, gets to the line way more, and has been slightly more efficient the last two seasons, though Jaylen had the edge this playoffs. That’s why I laugh at the soft **** lol, he does that despite drawing way more defensive attention. Do I wish he’d bait for fouls less? Sure, but he’s been an elite finisher for two years, outside of this past finals.

"Fan base that irrationally loves a pretty good player" yet you were the one who admitted (had no choice really) that like...two years ago you would have gave up JB for Harden. You know, the same one who had an awful showing in the Playoffs as the second option of a 2nd round team? You're the one who's been made to look foolish with your JB takes over the years, but the people who value a 25 year old star wing are the irrational ones?
And you even have an obnoxious nickname for fans of a player...who plays for their favorite team? Yikes. Like, how dare people support one of the best players on their team.

That is exactly it. All of a sudden Jaylen is some all nba level talent who dominates in the playoffs.
