Restating I like the signing before I offer this critique. I'd say besides the shooting concerns, the other limiting (correctable?) factor with him is, to me, he seems to play with a narrow base and plays too tall (upright) with the ball.

Yeah, I can see that. Hopefully something we can work with him on.
It might just be a physical limitation. Then again, a lot of taller dudes have the same issue (to some extent)..Giddey, Scottie Barnes, Nikola Jovic, Tristan Vukcevic, Ben Simmons to some extent - even the Thompson twins..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Delano Banton G League:
showcase cup- 26.3 PPG 5.8 RPG 4.0 APG
REGULAR SEASON- 24.1 ppg 9.0 rpg 5.9 apg
playoffs- 29.9 ppg 9.5 rpg 9.0 apg
Love seeing 9 rpg during regular season
His D 1-5, rebounding, transition skills can help us right away ! he also seems to have pretty good slashing instincts and can finish with his length, just a perfect role player skill set for us...
He works hard and plays with intensity. It is very likely that he will look very good playing with us, I'm excited

Brad is giving us a compelling SL despite having just 1 2nd rounder and no Begarin or Madar.

He's got a guaranteed contract. He's on the roster. 3rd year guys playing SL doesn't happen too often, but Romeo Langford and Carsen Edwards were both 3rd year guys playing SL - and both of them made the roster.
You also have 2nd year guys like Keegan Murray (started for Kings in the playoffs) and Jalen Williams (runner up for ROY) playing in SL too..
While Banton is a 3rd year guy, he played a decent amount in the g league during his first 2 years and most of the NBA action he's seen was in garbage time. Plus, he's on a new team now so this is a good chance for him to gel with his new teammates and start getting to know his new coaches. And who knows, maybe he really impresses in SL and it gives him a head start heading into training camp.

Yeah, he’ll be on the roster. JD likely two-way again but seems like Pat Bev was their guard of choice but he didn’t want to wait. Third year isn’t generally what you want to see but probably not a big deal. Some guys just like playing, too.

I will be a bit surprised if Banton was the Beverly pivot. I still think a point guard defender will be added. Not sure if Javonte Green is a guy they feel can switch to cover that on Brogdon units without White, but, that's my expected play,
Baylor is Brat.

Report: Dalano Banton to join Boston Celtics' 2023 Las Vegas Summer League roster

Fans of the Boston Celtics who were hoping to get an idea about how new Celtics reserve floor general Dalano Banton might fit into Boston’s new-look roster next season in the NBA’s 2023 Las Vegas Summer League will evidently be getting their wish.
The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach reports that the 6-foot-9 floor general will, in fact, be joining the Sin City Celtics‘ roster in Nevada this summer, adding a bit of extra spice to a roster that is to include Celtics two way floor general JD Davison, Hungarian forward Vincent Valerio-Bodon, 7-foot swingman Reggie Kissoonlal, and several other prospects looking to play their way onto a roster, even if it doesn’t end up being Boston’s.
There had been some speculation that the former Raptors guard might sit out summer league given his status as a member of the team’s full roster, but the franchise is likely looking at the opportunity as a chance to help get the Canadian guard better acclimated with the team’s staff and plans for him.

I think it’s a smart move on his part and a sign he has a great attitude. SL gives him a chance to gets reps in the system and come to training camp a little more prepared.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Re: Welcome to Boston, Dalano Banton!
Raps fan here.
You’re gonna like Banton. Most Raps fans were pissed at how little opportunity he had last year and subsequently then also losing him via FA.
He averaged 18/6/5/2/2 per 36 last season with good defense. Still only 23 years old.
Two years ago he tore it up during a few stretches. Dude is 6’9 with allround skills and a determination to win.
Only issue is he needs to improve his 3pt shooting. But the potential to be a nasty versatile defender/slasher out the gate should suit your team style quite well.
I think he will fit in perfectly as a depth guy on your bench who is capable of much more when counted on to do so.
He will help offset the loss of Smart.
You guys lookin like clear cut favorites in the East this season. Good luck.

Unless another forward is brought in he should get a chance. It also depends on how good Brissett is.RoyceDa59 wrote:Raps fan here.

The man turned one of the biggest and most influential social media sites in the world into a haven for nazis and other assorted far-right types and then set it up in order to specifically amplify messages of hate to everyone. I don't think it's dramatic at all.
