It should be much less effective this time around for these reasons.

1) KP

2) Jrue. Part of our struggles in the miami series and executing in the clutch offensively over the past few seasons has been decision making, making the right reads, the right decisions with the ball, being cool under pressure, make sure we get the right shot at the right time. Having Jrue should help that. He's cool under pressure, is a true floor general PG and has made tons of clutch plays over the years.

3) Coaching staff upgrades. Mazzulla in year 2, being able to apply everything he learned in year 1. Last season, our top assistant left for a college job right before the playoffs started. All 3 top assistants (Stoudemire, Sullivan, Miles) were Udoka's homies. Now we've got Cassell and Lee who can put their brains together along with Mazzulla to make sure we've got the right gameplan and are executing the right way.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Celtics open season at #3 in NBA.com's Power Rankings:

#3 BOSTON CELTICS
Last Week:4↑
2022-23 record: 57-25

OffRtg: 117.3 (2) DefRtg: 110.6 (2) NetRtg: +6.7 (1) Pace: 99.2 (19)

Statistically, the Celtics probably can’t be better than they were last season, when they ranked second on both ends of the floor. But they can be better prepared to win in the playoffs, and Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis are here to help them do just that.

Preseason takeaways

Not surprisingly, the Celtics led the preseason in 3-point rate, taking 49.9% of their shots from beyond the arc. They shot just 34.8% (13th) from deep, but still had the No. 1 offense (115.4 points scored per 100 possessions) when you discount games against non-NBA opponents.
The Celtics outscored their opponents by 28.8 points per 100 possessions in 77 total minutes with Holiday and Porzingis on the floor.
Payton Pritchard staked his claim to the seventh-man role, scoring 64 points in 76 minutes (30.2 per 36) through the Celtics’ first three games. His scoring slowed after that, but he had 12 assists and no turnovers over the last two.
Holiday came off the bench in his first game, but started his other three, with Al Horford coming off the bench when the Celtics had all six of their top guys against the Knicks on Tuesday. Their only loss in the preseason (in New York) came when they rested all six of them.

Something to watch in Week 1: Suffocating defensive possessions. Losing Marcus Smart, Grant Williams and Robert Williams III could take some of the bite out of the Celtics’ defense, which, when locked in, was tough to penetrate. Can this new group reach that level?

The Celtics and Knicks have played some fun games over the last few years and New York has actually won three straight against Boston. Their season tips off at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.

Week 1: @ NYK, vs.

I'll pick answer B for how Miami made it to the finals. But with the caveat that they are an awesomely coached team with a ton of heart. As much as I hated losing to them last year it's pretty cool that a team with so many undrafted guys and really no superstars (if you wanna consider Jimmy a superstar that's fine) have made it to the Finals twice in the past 4 years.

Nobody is saying the Cs play like the 90s.

The point is you have another option if the 3s are not falling.

Last season if you give the ball to Al or Rob, inside the paint, they will just pass it back out.

That will not happen with KP.

Yep, just 2 or 3 post ups per half when there is a scoring draught or other starters are on the bench would be absolutely huge. Add in that the lobs are back in play that we all remember from big Rob, but had been missing for a while.

Vodka sounds Perfect.
Gin's not bad, either.

Well, I have no idea why we’re starting the season on the road in New York and I think a lot of the early schedule sucks but couldn’t be more excited.

Lots of positives to take away from pre-season, and some things to work on still but the ball movement, spacing and attention to defense were all highlights for me. Also pleased with the beat down of a bad team (Charlotte) and not letting them back in the game. Even in pre season, definitely felt like something that would have happened last year.

Love Holiday and his fit. He is leaps and bounds better for this group than Marcus Smart was. His ability to still get into the lane with either his handle or strength is night and day right off the jump.

Friendly reminder that the 98 Bulls lost to the 98 Celtics in their season opener, on the road. But let’s not lose to New York because New York.

There is a large amount of National Media and NBA Fans who haven't caught on to the grandeur and elegance
which forms the 2023/24 Celtics Collective.

This is the best Celtics Squad since the 2008 Cs.

Their Starting Unit is this season's version of the Warriors Death Lineup.

And the former Leaky-Brained Point Guard has been exiled elsewhere.

There is a light that never goes out...
