Joe can't take full credit for sitting JB late in the game since he had foul trouble. Good job sitting Jrue who was so BLAH since tipoff.

Wish our bench gained more respect among fans. They play within their role, make quick decisions, and are often in the right spots on both ends. When a couple of starters are mixed in, our offense makes more sense.

JT alone with bench players --> 123.4 offensive rating and +9.9 net rating. It's been reliable in keeping/extending leads.
We are so much better without JB. This litany never gonna stop until the end of the world.

Cavs have been a good team all year, but when your best players are 6’3 and 6’1 compared to the C’s best players being 6’9 and 6’6 that plays a big part. Very similar to the Blazers with Dame and CJ. Those guys will get exposed defensively when it counts.

Mitchell is decent/neutral to good on defense. Garland is just a defensive liability that can be exploited. But the Cavs not having a player who can single-cover Tatum was what led to defensive breakdowns on their part. Dunno what the numbers are but most Kornet-Tatum or White-Tatum actions had high rate of success. Interested to see how them having both Dean Wade and Okoro back changes the equation.

And as good as Ty Jerome is on offense, his defense is absolute trash.

Come to think of it, Cavs should’ve gone after Caleb Martin. Merrill, Jerome, and Niang might be unplayable in the postseason against us.

True.

But I heard DeAndre Hunter is their target.

He had gone to the bench with 5 fouls, and we were pretty much in control the rest of the way, except for the bad 4 point play.

Yeah I know that. I was there (in my living room). I just thought there were times I’d rather have in on D than Pritchard. No worries though. We pulled it out and beat the 3rd best team in the league on the road.

100% on point. He will definitely be the worst coach in nba history to repeat if we're lucky enough for that to happen.

Can’t tell if this would be an insult or a compliment.

We did exactly what we needed to do: beat them in their home, plant that seed of self-doubt into their mind, where it will grow. These games are not "a game", they are "the game". We lost both games against the Nuggets last year. Luckily somebody else took care of them. Those losses would have bothered us a lot.

Cavs (15-6) have the best clutch win % in the league. Celtics (16-9) have the 2nd best.

Two of the six Cavs clutch losses are to the Celtics.

Cavs were missing Okoro, who is a good wing defender.
I think the Celtics believe they are the better team, though, and that might be enough if they meet this spring.

A few weeks back I read the Cavs were looking to get a Bigger Guard for defensive purposes. (Lonzo Ball was hinted) And/or a Better Wing. Trade deadline a day away. My guess is they try something.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

That's the problem when your two best players are short guards. It forces teams to match up defensively which means a lot of the time the offense suffers. C's had that problem with Smart. Okoro in means a guy like Levert who plays well against the C's historically won't be on the floor.

Good win. I thought our defense was spot on most of the game, especially early in the game.

We had some trouble with the zone but nothing we can't clean up for hte playoffs

We've quickly gone from losing every other game to having the 2nd longest win streak in the league at 4. It may be surprising to learn the longest win streak belongs to the Blazers who've won 5 in a row.

Return to Boston Celtics
