Remind me again why a year ago everyone was saying Paxson was a genius and Danny Ainge was the anti-christ?

Because GMs that luck into heavily-hyped players through the draft can do no wrong, apparently. Last year Doug Collins and Steve Kerr were kissing Paxon's @$$ non-stop during broadcasts...it was disgusting. They stank for eons, got some really high picks (through losing and the incompetence of Zeke) and...what else? Made a terrible FA addition in Ben Wallace? Didn't address team needs (scoring outside of jumpshots) one iota? Added essentially the same player (Wallace, Thomas, Noah) to further screw things up?

Anyway, I can't wait until we play LA again...

No Phil's a carpetbagger, and Doc's a straight shooter. Doc undressed Phil both games this year. Jackson wasn't even smart enough to press the Celtics with Rondo out in the Game in LA.

come on...the coaching records speak for themselves.
They stole a top 30 player and added him to the leagues best player.
They also have players to make other moves we cannot. Advantage Lakers.

I'm curious to see how well Gasol actually works in regards to being teammates with Kobe. He is a good passer BUT for him to pass he has to have the ball which means Kobe doesn't have it. Half the problem with Kobe and Lamar was that Kobe wouldn't really ever give him the ball.

I think the other thing to keep an eye on is Kidd. The Lakers can afford to pay guys a lot and Lakers still have Lamar and some young second tier players which is probably won of the better offers the Nets might be able to get and that Kidd would be OK with, the only problem is I think Lamar has suggested he might decide to retire if he gets traded.

thats not what you said. you said top 30 PLAYER. which Gasol is NOT in that category. and trust me, i want him to be, i drafted him top 10 in my fantasy league. hopefully his stats go up from this, doubt it though.

True that. I don't see it working all too great. Gasol needs the ball to be really effective. I think he'd be a good high post big man in the triangle system, but they already got Lamar for that. What they really needed was a dirt dog athletic scrapper to play the 4. A guy who could finish plays, get boards, and guard the tin. I almost feel like they shoulda got Stromo for nothing like the Nets did, and then held onto the Kwame expiring to make a run at Kidd.

that still doesn't change the fact that this trade was an absolute steal for the lakers, and puts them in legit championship contention once bynum comes back. :nonono: @ memphis.

i have to admit though, the prospect of a lakers-celtics finals is exciting.

With Bynum and Kobe you only ned him as a third option or 1st option depending on match ups.

darrendaye wrote:Andrew Bynum's arrival makes this a master stroke. Many of us would not have wanted Gasol for Big Al straight up, IMO, for valid reasons. But, having him as a 3rd banana would seem to be a good fit as an inside/outside big man mix with Bynum down low and Gasol at his best from outside.

Bynum is a young kid, and just like Tony Allen i don't think he'll be trustworthy of his leg for a while.

I bet you the Grizz move Miller before the trade dealine for an expiring contract & young players then go hard after Luol Deng & Elton Brand this off-season.

Just a guess.

Wait til Deng or Gordon is playing for the Grizz next year. You know one of them will probably be going their for a boat load of cash.

They could or should have probably just gotten Deng for Gasol at worst straight up. I don't know if that's necessarily true, but it doesn't seem like they were trying too hard to get him through trade to go after him over the summer.

Lol, The chicago board is going nuts. Can you believe Kwame has now been involved in a trade for Caron Butler and Pau Gasol. All I know is if Kwame ends up in Boston we probably gave our best player to get him.
