Ramona forever useless lol. Does she think people haven’t tried defending him like that all season, after watching how uncomfortable the warriors had him in the finals?

The last two regular seasons against them he has averaged 27/10/5 on a 61% TS, and 36/10/3 on a 71% TS. Could they have figured something out in the finals? Absolutely, get physical with him and send late help. Every other team tries that, they just don’t have Draymond. It’s just as likely that it was compounded by him being worn down/hurt, and then the other night he was very clearly pressing as he was missing easy layups that’s he’s effortlessly made all season.

He was steaming trash the other night, and it clearly appeared mental as much as anything. I’m really curious how he plays against them in a month or whatever it is. They are the only team in the league where I’m concerned about him against, so hopefully he has a great game on 1/19, will ease a lot of peoples minds.

He had an efficient 29 in a win against Butler on the second game of the season, and won ECF mvp against them last year lol. One poor game against them with Butler equates to in his head?

If people want to get on Tatum, whatever, but let’s keep it factual.

Eye test is better than stats for me. He had an awful game against the heat, the game Butler returned. 14pts in 41mins. 0/7 from 3. Wasting the heroics of Jaylen by being timid in the 4th and overtime. Missing wide open ahots and layups, while Jimmy hitting hard clutch shots. That happened after scoring 49 the game before lol. He did that in the playoffs, playing great one game, then laying an egg the next. Then playing great again. Plus don’t tell me you already forgot that game 7 against the heat, where we almost lost it by playing scared the closing minutes of that game. So, it’s not one game against the heat and the warriors. There is really something mental with JT against them. It would have been fine if he played bad against some other teams, but not against the Warriors, Heat or bucks.

In 2022 playoffs, Tatum had only 3 games where he scored fewer than 20 points. Jimmy Butler meanwhile had three games against the Celtics where he scored 8, 6, 13. Then he bricked a go-ahead shot in game 7.
What is your internet psychological diagnosis for Jimmy? He just ain't got that dawg in him? Do the Celtics live rent free in his mind? There's something mentally wrong with Jimmy Butler and he just shook?

Lol. Jimmy is good, but he’s not really in the same tier as Tatum when it comes to talent and potential to be an all time great. So you are dead wrong. We hold Tatum to a different standard than Jimmy. So who cares if Jimmy has some really awful games. Nobody is saying he can be an all timer. Tatum on the other hand, has the potential and talent to be one of the best. Heck, i would place Jaylen a tier above Jimmy when it comes to talent. Lol

But since we keep seeing talk of no killer mentality or silly stuff like that. Here’s Tatum’s games 4-7 of the Bucks and Heat series, when the games really picked up importance against two of the best defenses in the league.

Bucks- 33/9/5 on a 60% TS
Heat- 27/10/6 on a 64% TS

And we know what he did against the Nets.

The Warriors are absolutely something Tatum will need to work on, whether physically or mentally. But the talk on killer instinct? He showed it like crazy up until the finals. He has destroyed pretty much every playoff team he’s faced this year, except the Warriors, then the Hawks (lol) and the Pelicans. Here’s his numbers against possible playoff teams this season.

Hawks- 19/7/8 on a 46% TS
Nets- 29/11 on a 67% TS
Cavs- 29/9/5 on a 62% TS
Bulls- 30/10/6 on a 60% TS
Mavs- 37/13/5 on a 61% TS
Nuggets- 34/8/5 on a 66% TS
Warriors- 18/7/2 on a 37% TS
Grizzlies- 39/3/2 on a 61% TS
Heat- 31/9/3 on a 61% TS
Pelicans- 19/7/10 on a 46% TS
Sixers- 35/12/4 on a 73% TS
Suns- 25/5/2 on a 58% TS
Raps- 31/12/3 on a 59% TS

That’s pretty incredible consistency against the best teams.

The total stats definitely great, it would be better if he stopped having those duds every other game though. Well, he has a chance to prove himself against the Bucks on xmas.

Cs now 1-7 when JT is not a positive on the floor in +/-. Undefeated otherwise.

I think its far more likely that last year in the finals Tatum was simply exhausted from playing a huge number of games/minutes and it got to him. I mean that was how I felt watching the games in real time, it looked like he ran out of gas sometime in the Heat series tbh.

That's not his fault, that's the coaching staff. Find the guy time to rest, even if you lose more games.

Anyway that seems like a more likely explanation than "the warriors solved Tatum." Especially given that nobody can seem to adequately explain exactly HOW they've solved him.

That’s Tatum’s MVP moment. Best player on the best team with stats to back it up. Just needed the narrative to build and games like this do it

GS has had great success on Tatum because they pack the paint, reach strip foul whatever on his drives. He gets frustrated and sometimes will force the issue or settles for 3s. Part of Tatum's future success against GS or other teams playing this way is he needs some timely shots made by teammates to "unpack" the paint. And he will need to trust them and pass it to them.

To put it simply, Tatum needs good shooting support so he can stay aggressive and attack the wider lanes vs clogged lanes.

Last night's performance shows Tatum's growth and development as an ELITE/MVP caliber player.

That was sheer determination and will to drag the team to victory after going ice cold in the second half over the overrated Lakers.

To do it on National TV against the Lakers has all the talking heads pumping him up today. He is now in the conversation for rest of season and if team success and his numbers continue it has become his trophy to lose.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

This is an outstanding tweet. Of course First Take became one of ESPN’s iconic shows on the heels of an idiot saying Lebron was too mentally weak to win a title. This nonsense was around in the 80s….I am old enough to remember the silly ‘Tragic Johnson’ commentary in 1984 just before he won 3 of next 4 titles and multiple MVPs. Tatum will get questioned and called out until he wins a ring or two.

Similar from above but 24 second threshold instead of 30 secs.

I know Ray has his history, but damm, 27 clutch threes on 40%
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

A lot complain about how Tatum settles for 3s or fadeaways/pull-ups rather than taking it strong all the way to the hoop everytime... I think this is in part because of the non-calls by the refs on a lot of his drives -- he basically gets beat up, sore & bruised, without any free throws to make the punishment worth it.

I rarely venture to the General Board. Too Many "Haters" there. But damn it if you are not posting items like this there. This is no Small sample size either..
