Because it would make us a worse team = loose more games = more ping pong balls.

Oh alright, I thought he was referring to the Nets pick, brain fart.

Yeah, we're not gonna be that bad though.

We were a 500 team with KG and Pierce.

KG is 37 and PP will be 36 when this season starts. We are going to potentially get three first round draft picks for these guys who at best will play two more seasons. Who cares who they are sending us back?

You keep KG and PP you are looking at a 500 team and out in the first round again with nothing to show for it. There is zero benfit gained keeping this team in tacked. . Every single celtic fan should be on their knees praying for this to go down.

In fact at 11:00 EST I propose every celtic fan get on the knees and pray to whatever God they worship that this goes through. Who is with me?

Not sure how you can say this definitively. If this deal goes through, the Celtics are going to be atrocious, lol.

Hopefully, Ainge is smart and the owners follow his lead in going hard for the top pick. You want to bottom out at some point when you're looking to rebuild. With the Rondo/Sullinger injuries and the exodus of vet presence I the year of a great draft... Tanking is a no brainer.

I really think this is the best we can do. 1 or 2 of those picks have a good chance to be in the lottery. KG and Pierce have a chance to compete. It's not the knicks.

Gerald Wallace at 10 mil per isn't that bad. He could be tradable as soon as next year if he bounces back. If he doesn't he could be the next Raef Lafrentz or Wally Sczerbiak contract in a year or two for a big trade.

If this trade goes down and we don't trade Rondo. Don't expect us to rush him back. We could D rose him. Further cementing our tanking for next year.

With all these picks we would be poised to rebuild in 2-3 years max. If we made a big trade with all those extra picks and then got a stud with our draft pick. With Rondo, Green, Top 3 picks and use assets to acquire and all star. We could be back in contention within a year. Just my humble opinion.

This is what I've been saying for months.... And I've also been saying deal Rondo and way too many people -- not you -- criticized me for it.

There is a time to try to "win now" and in 2007 I completely agreed with the trade for RA as long as KG was coming.

And there is a time to pay the piper or whatever that saying is and admit the team is better off getting extremely bad and collecting picks/extremely young assets.

Ainge was my favorite player but I'd day trade a 28 year old Ainge in this situation as well. Any player over 25 with another team offering a good deal should be traded especially if that player doesn't mind going to a team trying to win.

The Celtics are tanking right now since its not like they have a 27-28 year old Durant/Lebron/KG/Duncan to build around.

Soxfan nailed it. Green and Rondo are good players but it would not be a tragedy wasting their prime. Now is the time to rebuild. You wait to rebuild and you will be in the same exact position 12 months from now.

Actually the gm of the Celtics and ownership can count. This deal drops overall salary I believe.

2 out of the 3 first rounders may be lottery picks and not late. This deal also enables the Celtics to get a few of their own lottery picks and start the rebuild in a very good draft class.

We can start a rebuild by buying out pierce and letting KG retire....save 30 MIL....who cares about a late pick in 14, and a pick in '16 & 18???! Are we seriously excited about 2018 now? This would be fine if we didn't take Wallace.

We already have all our firsts and what looks like high seconds and an extra pick in 15....what the heck are we going to do with a bunch of late firsts?

It is early. There is more going on here. Boston is not paying Green and Wallace 18M/ yr for the SF position. Give it time.

I would imagine we are waiting on KG.

Where else can we send him and Pierce together though? I think he has some apprehension about this move. But with Stern blocking any potential LAC deal. This is the best deal out there for both the Celtics and these two all time greats. Which is why I think and hope he waves his no trade clause.

Well, the latest is that the teams are agreed on it and it's all down to KG, and if KG wants to take his sweet time that's his prerogative. So unless KG is whispering in Woj's ear, there's not much left to report until KG makes his decision.
