Courtney Lee? Really? He wasn't going to get much time when Rondo came back anyhow. Losing Bass hurts, as I don't think Sully will be able to guard quick stretch 4s. Thankfully, Wallace can fill that role.

If Jeff or Sully are involved, I wouldn't like it. I don't really like Asik though.

I hope there is heavy protection on the pick. I love getting out of Lee/Bass deals, but not really sure how much Asik will help in the long run. FA after next year, would be tough to give up a decent asset to just see him walk.

I agree with whoever agrees with me...

Bass, Lee and a Pick is too much for a player like Asik...

Ah, damn. We already went through that Clippersgate in this calendar year. At least this one has a deadline.

Yeah. This.

Lee has been playing well, but with Rondo on the mend, there is going to be a glut at the guard spots, anyway. I'll take a frontcourt of Asik and Sullinger over an extra guard off the bench any day.

Bass will definitely be missed, though. Celtics fans have been underrating him for three years now.

I don't think it really works that way, though. Hasn't anybody here ever been on ebay? :) The question isn't whether or not Houston wants to trade Asik; they obviously do. The question is how much the other 28 GMs in the league want to add Asik to their roster. Since there are several other teams apparently interested in his services, Houston has plenty of leverage here. Ainge still has to make sure he has the best offer out there at the end of the day. With that said, I would be surprised if Asik is acquired for much of a discount at all...

Sure... other teams are interested... but what are they willing to give up? If Houston had an offer that was any good... they would have made the deal by now.

That is a good point. It was reported he would be the 4th guard when Rondo returns. Crawford, Bradley Rondo would be ahead of him in the rotation. It will leave them a litte short at the guard (not a fan of Pressey) spot but they can move Green to the SG spot and give Crash more time at the SF spot I suppose.

Yeah woj is one of the best out there. It's not as if he just hears everything and reports it. He reports it then it's done. I expect this to finish soon.

I don't agree with you.

And Woj didn't say it was going to go down today.

30 minute starter = 10 ppg 12 rpg with only 2 tpg and 2.7 fpg.

Last time Celtics had a legit 10 rpg player? Anyone? Antoine Walker circa 98??

Anyone in a different boat? There's obviously little non-entities like Marshon Brooks that could be included that don't swing my pendulum either way.

I might be willing to throw Faverani in the package with Humphries and a 1st rounder. Like him, but with Asik, Sullinger, Bass, and Olynyk all on the roster, he would be expendable.

Probably more remote, but could see Bradley (+ cap filler) being offered up in trade talks for Asik. We've been hearing talk recently about Bradley's potential asking price next summer being pretty high, and maybe Ainge feels Jordan Crawford can be had for more of a bargain next summer. Once Rondo returns, a three guard rotation of Rondo/Lee/Crawford would still be pretty potent, and we'd have seriously upgraded the frontcourt for the next few years.

Other than Milsap or Ryan Anderson, who would be a better offer than Bass/Lee/1st?

Interesting to see if Lee and Bass dress tonight, if the deal is gaining so much momentum.

Well Bass is a given to be missed. He has been this teams most important player arguably alongside Sully and Bradley. But Bass for Asik is a good trade and was talked about from the get go.

Throwing in Courtney lee as well seems like too much. Id rather give up Humphries + Lee and a first if thats what we are talking here. But Humphries is probably viewed as the bigger assett due to his expiring contract.

Bass and Lee were our second and third worst contracts coming into this year. To be able to dump them and pick up Asik (a borderline top 5 defensive center and top 3 rebounder) at the expense of a pick would be crazy. No way that's the deal.

Even if Bass isn't a Morey-style player, he probably could be traded onward for an alternative.
