What is Jayson Tatum's ceiling?

Cutoffs here are totally arbitrary 'cos **** it...

List of players who averaged 25+ ppg and 7+ rpg since December 20, 2019*:

• Harden - 62.2 TS%
• Giannis - 60.6 TS%
• Tatum - 59.7 TS%
• Lebron - 58.0 TS%
• Doncic - 56.4 TS%
• Westbrook - 55.6 TS%

Of those on the list, Tatum played the most games (41), had the most wins (28), was 2nd in net rating (+9.8), and the only one with sub-30% usage (28.5%). He's also the only one who shot 40+% from 3 (43.2%).

*excluding playoffs

Is that enough of a sample size?

Tatum is playing great so far vs Philly team that was one of the worst playing teams in shambles coming into the bubble before even losing a lock down wing defender in Simmons who would IMO personally be tasked with guarding him specifically. This 76ers team isn’t better than the Nets or Magic or Blazers or whomever, in fact they even have far worse coaching and game strategies when it comes to taking advantage of whatever they could. Tatum’s spotlight will be next round and the one after that when he meets some elite athletic lockdown wing defenders with his length if not more that can stay in front of him at the perimeter. If he doesn’t morph back into a volume inefficient long 2 chucker then we know he has arrived. I wanna see that elite arsenal with Ananoby, Siakam, Adebayo, Butler, Giannis game planning and trying to clamp him over a potential 7 game series.

Tatum is more like 6-7 6-8ish, no way he is 6-10. Ben Simmons is 6-10insh and he looks noticeably taller standing next to Tatum in games I watched.

I don't think Tatum really has a ceiling. I don't think any level of play would absolutely shock me. For him to become better than Lebron or the Greak Freak doesn't seem likely but it also doesn't seem impossible like say Wannamaker making an allstar team.

He was 6’9” measured in shoes sooooo

He’s absolutely taller than 6’7” lol. FWIW, he was the same height as Harry Giles at Duke and I believe Giles is listed at 6’10”

In a way it’s asking if he can become one of the main faces of the league. Someone your wife and/or mom has heard of. That’s asking a lot but true, it’s not impossible.

I think he’d need some distinguishing trait for that to happen. Like the guy who doesn’t miss. Right now he’s just like generically awesome, average height, personality, athleticism, name. Maybe the guy who wins every title would help I don’t know I’m just spitballing here
