So, here is an example of what the roster might look like after trading Bradley for Noel and expiring filler, and signing a 7-9 year max FA (non-Griffin edition):

28.800000 - 7-9 year max player (Hayward???)
27.734405 - Horford
10.961225 - Noel (cap hold)
6.796117 - Crowder
6.261395 - Thomas
4.956480 - Brown
4.538020 - Smart
4.090900 - '17 #3 (100% rookie scale hold)
1.988520 - Rozier
1.644300 - Yabusele (100% rookie scale hold)
1.384750 - Jackson (650k guaranteed)
1.251960 - Hunter
1.203700 - Zizic (100% rookie scale)

101.611772 total

102.000000 cap (estimated)
121.000000 tax (estimated)

Here's where you're at after having done the same with a 10+ year max FA (and having succeeded in trading/waiving/stashing all of your other rookie-scales for no returning salary):

33.600000 - 10+ year max player (Durant  )
27.734405 - Horford
10.961225 - Noel (cap hold)
6.796117 - Crowder
6.261395 - Thomas
4.956480 - Brown
4.538020 - Smart
4.090900 - '17 #3 (100% rookie scale hold)
0.562493 - incomplete roster hold
0.562493 - incomplete roster hold
0.562493 - incomplete roster hold
0.562493 - incomplete roster hold

101.188514 total
102.000000 cap (estimated)

(Again, using Smitty's estimated numbers.)

I say, it's a heck of a lot easier to just hold on to AB.

Play hard this season, go as far as you can. Take your swings in FA. If you strikeout, then you can start thinking about plan E's and F's, such as overpaying Noel, and then turn your sights to trades.

The piece I forgot is that we have Zizic (and Yabusele) to deal. I could see Ante appealing to Colangelo because he's a stash guy, a year or more away from being a roster problem, after they get a look at Embiid and his health. Zizic/Rozier? Zizic/Hunter/1st? Zizic/Yabu/Rozier?

He could be the longer-range asset who lets the Sixers out of a bind.

I'm also thinking, cap-wise, that we might have other deals lined up, ones we know we could do to balance the cap, and/or that if the price is low enough, we can always trade Noel at the deadline, or as part of a package, or renounce him in July if a higher profile free agent like Griffin or Hayward expresses interest.

Dudley averaged 8PPG last season and shot 42% from deep, 48% overall.

Green averaged 9PPG last season, shot 32% from deep and 39% overall.

You get what you pay for. I'd have thrown 8 mil at Dudley, as it wasn't going to break our bank and we desperately need consistent shooting. He's also the better defender and wanted to be in Boston. Let's hope Green proves me wrong.

Maybe best to wait and see until after a new CBA is ratified, IF there's a new one by mid-December. Noel's trade value is more likely to go down than up anyway considering Philly's situation.

EDIT: Noel's cap hold is nearly $11M; KO's at $7.7M.

Whoa...I didn't realize that hold would be so high. I forgot he was the 6th pick so his rookie contract isn't chump change. Thanks.

Thanks for all the numbers and roster move breakdowns in your other posts.

I think both of you are right on that it's probably better to wait this out than make a move now.

I wouldn't even trade Bradley for Noel straight-up.

I honestly feel like Dudley has always been overrated. Good due, but whatever. I don't want him taking minutes away from our current wing players. Gerald Green brings something we needed.....length, athleticism....on a minimum contract for a guy that will help at times. Good value. Danny wanted to add depth. he got it on the cheap. Plus, IT is a big advocate for Gerald...

Dudley's really freaking good, but you can't be blocking Jaylen and to some extent Marcus, Kelly, and Mickey. Guessing he'd have also wanted multiple years and that's a no go.

According to twitter reporters, Ty Lue wants KG as part of his coaching staff and KG's wife is pushing him to take it...

KG will be at Cavs ring ceremony on opening night and his close friend Ty Lue is talking to him about a Cavs coaching job. Needless to say, I am not pleased with this development.

UPDATE: KG in Clips practice today.

I still think he would be more likely to go to Clippers. Lives there and can chill with Pierce in his final year playing.
