Re: Draftees 2016 – Brown, Yabusele, Žižić, Jackson, Nader
I want all 3 of Zizic, Yabu and Nader on the team next season.
Yabu was my guy all along. I'm happy we're getting athletic, skilled, young bigs. Was about time.
Can't wait for the summer.

He was/is Danny's guy, Zizic is. He's definitely not going anywhere unless it's in a blockbuster trade.

There Will Be 25 D-League Teams for the 2017-18 Season

D-League Almost One-to-One

Five NBA franchises have purchased or intend to purchase NBA D-League affiliates, including three new teams, which will expand the league to 25 teams next season. For 2017-18:
* The Milwaukee Bucks have purchased an expansion team to begin play in Oshkosh, Wisc.
* The Memphis Grizzlies have purchased an expansion team to begin play in Southaven, Miss.
* The Orlando Magic have purchased the Erie BayHawks and intend to rename and relocate the team to Lakeland, Fla.
* The Atlanta Hawks have purchased an NBA D-League affiliate that will begin play as the Erie BayHawks before relocating to College Park, Ga., in 2019-20
* The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced a letter of intent to purchase the Iowa Energy, the Grizzlies’ current affiliate.
D-League Almost One-to-One
By Joel Brigham | February 10, 2017

With the expansion, there will be 25 teams in the D-League by the 2017-2018 season, which means there are more teams with one-to-one D-League affiliates than there ever have been, and it seems like only a matter of time before 30 D-League teams line up precisely with 30 NBA teams.
Even in waiting for those last five organizations to buy teams (the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers and Washington Wizards all are without exclusive D-League affiliates), there are more than enough franchises now working with complete control over their D-League affiliates to essentially consider this a fully-functioning minor league.
Those teams that don’t have any affiliation with the D-League are going to have it rough while they figure out when and/or how to make their own expansion franchises happen. Currently, teams can call up any unsigned D-League player no matter what team he currently plays for, however, those teams don’t have as many options if they have a player they want to send down for some seasoning. Since rival NBA franchises own and operate these D-League organizations now, they aren’t trying to do anybody else any favors by giving their blue chips a place to marinate. Gone are the days of multiple teams sharing franchises.

They also had the highest opinion of him before the draft, legitimately discussing whether their team should take him @10.

Good stuff. Very important for the health and future of this league.
2-way contracts and full one-to-one affiliation during this CBA, positions us nicely to take the next step in the next CBA.

Yeah. D-League teams should be part of the NBA Budget.
Pay the Regular guys starting at $100,000.
Two-Way Contracts should be $250,000+.
And there should be up to 5 x Two-Ways, at a time (A whole Squad).

Without being too greedy Jokic is everything I hope Zizic can become, even without a 40 point game.

Curm sees Zizic as another Jokic and if he's even half the player Jokic is then we got a steal at 23.

Jokic seems like a strange comparison because his game is finesse and he is not that athletic. Zizic looks like a cave troll in these highlight videos. Not that it's a bad thing, he looks like a beast on the boards and finishing. Does he have handle/shooting skills that he isn't using for Cibona/Darussafaka?

I'm more looking at the stats:a scorer and rebounder. The Celtics need both. As a basketball fan who enjoys Centers I had to give a shout-out to Jokic. I'm excited for him.

And Curm doesn't like anyone!
Well, that's a bit of hyperbole, but not much.

Just weird to mention them together. Like comparing Steven Adams and Porzingis or something.

well, as a Yabs believer/fan, I will say that it looks like he's playing against church league competition -- or if that's too strong, let's just say most of those other guys on the court aren't going to make it to the NBA. Go Yabs go though!

With that now being the case I can see the next move being potentially to expand the NBA Draft maybe one more round for draft and stash purposes.

Is a 3rd round really necessary though? Like nearly half the guys who get taken in the 2nd round get stashed already

Fair point but they are expanding the roster from15 to 17 spots. And if every team has their own minor league team to fill I can see the rationale. Not saying that we should expect it per se. Just that I wouldn't be surprised if they chose to.
