Maybe stop trying to derail the thread? I know you're on summer break before 7th grade starts next fall, but let's be respectful to the board and actually try to add value to it.

Thanks, buddy!

You've asked me like 6 times to stop derailing the thread.

Know that I read it and comprehended it the first half dozen times and came to the conclusion that I'll continue to do what I'm doing while you continue to insult me.

I'm not trying to get past the second round next year shak. I'm trying to build for the future.

You're the one who's holding on to a optimistic outcome for next season, regardless of championship accomplishments or not.

As I said. You're totally fine with winning a bunch of games, maybe some playoff games and call it a successful season. That's you. Thats your position.

Mine is that were better off getting this team in position to compete for a title when Tatum comes back and winning some useless games next year makes that infinitely more harder.

I don't have to accept that reaching their ceiling of being a playoff team and having some competitive playoff games is a good season.

I’m telling you, as I have multiple times now, they can do EVERYTHING you want and still be no better off beyond next season!

And I'm telling YOU that they can do anything and you'll be ok with it.

We're on the same page shak. I heard you. I disagree with you and it's ok.

Don't expect for me to say how awesome the season is just cause they made the playoffs. What a sad goal to have.

Shak is the one who said Tatum wasn't out for the season.

Take a moment and comprehend what you're reading before you rush in here and try and slam dunk all over me.

My expectations next year is they aren't doing ****. Which they will most definitely meet, it's shak who has unrealistic expectations.

I'm not the one who thinks they're winning the title hahahahahahah

Actually that wasn't at all the point of what Shak was saying...

I've read dozens of post by shak where they are anticipating Tatum comes back and then anything can happen in the playoffs over the last couple days.

Or did that not happen either :lol: :lol: :lol:

Anything could happen, it doesn’t mean I believe it will! Try again. I wouldn’t even say we’ll win if he comes back because I don’t know how he’ll play. I’m saying it’s not some magic that will need to happen for us to be good and in later rounds of the playoffs!

I don’t usually guarantee chips when everyone is healthy and firing on all cylinders. I guaranteed 18 and we got it, used up my one bit of luck against a petty universe, I’m cool with that.

Our gang getting edgy in here today. Take a deep breath and enjoy the draft. This is gonna be a fun one I think, even if your favorite players don't make the cut.

We'll have some new faces, some old faces, and be a very good but not yet great team next season. Brad going step by step, it's all good.

Great. We got it.

We are better off going to the bottom next year. They have a great opportunity to reset the tax, get a top 10 pick and accumulate some assets to build around Tatum.

I don't apologize for that. That's the best way forward.

Don't apologize, Shak! He's a good troll so it's hard to stay on topic when you read so many clown posts.

Onto 8pm we go!

Again: Personal attacks are not allowed. Debate each other's posts as strongly as you'd like but don't insult each other.

Please stop bickering, you guys. It's annoying for the 95% of posters who want to talk about the Celtics. -b

And I keep asking myself why Brad hasn't brought you into a role in their front office? I mean he clearly hasn't thought of such novel ideas and instead seems to be keeping Brown and White so that JT isn't stuck with nobody when he returns in 2026. What a joke of a GM he is!

Do you guys think all these reports from Shams, Windy, etc. are from us or other teams? You'd think other teams talking to us about JB/DW would want to keep things quiet.

Not saying there's not a price that they'd HAVE to move them at, but I think by dealing Jrue/Porzingis they kind of tipped their hand on Brown/White. If they seriously expected to trade those guys, I don't see why they would have been in such a rush to deal Jrue/KP. Presumably they'd have gotten financial savings in those deals that might have negated any need to take the big on court losses in those deals. I guess I can see the Jrue trade making sense for the future (and them liking Simons on the court of Brown/White were gone) and the Porzingis did involve a pick tonight that they had to decide on. So maybe there was some urgency even if they do cross the finish line on a Brown/White deal, but feels like they wouldn't have rushed to those deals if they expected Brown/White traded.

Lets say worst case out all year.

Giannis white simons is a top 5 team east

But you get tatum back and its over for the east

I don't think the owners are going to want to pay the massive taxes for that team. It will be for 5 or 6 years straight.

Tatum, Freak, White

2024-25 - Salary Cap $140.6M / Luxury Tax $170.1M / 1st Apron $178.1M / 2nd Apron $188.9M

If the owners are good with it, I certainly am, but considering we've already moved KP/Jrue it suggests they're not.

2025 = $136.3M
2026 = $147.1M
2027 = $157.9M

The reason they moved KP/Jrue was because of the 2nd apron and the penalties from this horse$hit CBA. But I understand 90% of "fans" won't understand that. The moves yesterday were to get under the 2nd apron to give them flexibility for when JT returns.

Sucks he got hurt and next year is essentially a throwaway year.
If they are flying by the seat of their pants and "hoping" to get a player that can replace Porzingis, then it is unacceptable . KP is obviously a risk, but big men of championship level teams are expensive and hard to find.
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

Actually it's the opposite. Getting under the 2nd apron frees them up to make a lot of basketball decisions including aggregate salaries. So if they were to trade JB or White, trading Jrue/KP first was the way to go.

I doubt Brad will move either, but now he has the real ability to.

Sure, but KP also missed half the year and was unplayable in the postseason. And even in 2024 played 5 games in the playoffs. Obviously they got worse just as a salary dump but thanks to the CBA was the most logical move to get under the 2nd apron.

I am trying to ask this in a nice way :wink:
