Sully/Olynyk/Hump
Asik/Fav/Hump

That's a solid big man rotation.

Yes and no. Luckily for our team, Bass is playing the best ball of his career and Courtney Lee is shooting the best of his career so far. That's why this trade is even an option. Another reason why Brad Stevens is so awesome... He puts players in best position to succeed for the team AND for Danny so the Celtics can sell high.

Same theory with Jordan Crawford. We got him for nothing and hopefully now we can sell high on him for a first. That's a no brainer move just like this one.

Depends on the pick I suppose. Also, don't discount the VALUE in opening up salary and roster spots for the next few years.

I don't think it really works that way, though. Hasn't anybody here ever been on ebay? :) The question isn't whether or not Houston wants to trade Asik; they obviously do. The question is how much the other 28 GMs in the league want to add Asik to their roster. Since there are several other teams apparently interested in his services, Houston has plenty of leverage here. Ainge still has to make sure he has the best offer out there at the end of the day. With that said, I would be surprised if Asik is acquired for much of a discount at all...

Sure... other teams are interested... but what are they willing to give up? If Houston had an offer that was any good... they would have made the deal by now.

Not necessarily. Could be the case where they have a couple of good offers that they have to contemplate. Houston made it pretty public that he was available; makes sense to wait to see all the offers out there before pulling the trigger.

Really ?

That's not fair value for a darn good Center like Asik whose buried in a league that doesn't have many good Center's.

Re: the Woj/Bulpett tweets

It's possible to gain traction without doing anything. Danny says this is what I'm offering, HOU says thanks we'll get back to you, and then when HOU finds out that Danny's offer is the best one they can find in the league....bingo, traction has been gained.

Got no trouble giving up Bass and Lee. My opinion of both guys really hasn't changed since they became Cs. The only diff this year is that Stevens got both guys to buy into the system. They are eminently replaceable regardless. Wallace can guard quick 4s and Rondo's going to eat up Lee's minutes.

I would have a small problem if that #1 was any pick other than the Clip pick.

Still wondering why HOU prefers Bass to Humphries. Hump's the perfect low usage guy to put next to Howard and his deal makes him moveable at the deadline if you want to upgrade. Bass and Howard didn't exactly click when they played together in Orlando.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

That's exactly it, these are the types of moves that allow us a lot more financial flexibility in the future.

Extremely solid.

I love the way Asik compliments players like Sully and Olynyk's game. Just what the doctor ordered.

Bass is okay, he finish in 2015, the problem is Lee, the Rockets want the space in 2015 for another possible star.
If the deal comes through probably Lee will go elsewhere, and a back-up Center will go to Houston.

Something like,

Bass+C+1st to Houston
Asik to Boston
Lee+something (Motiejunas?) to 3rd team

That's possible I guess.

Given how Lee has been shooting and how hard he has supposedly been working, I would rather try and trade Jordan Crawford along with Bass and keep the future pick (or sub a less valuable pick).

Anyways I like this rumor. We are better with Hump in the game than Bass (and it's not like Bass will be blossoming into a star), and Asik makes us a much better or at least a much more versatile defensive team IMO - i.e. I don't think there is a quick 4 in the league that Bass can defend better than Crash. And one of Lee/Crawford is completely expendable.

I don't expect Asik to be an elite offensive big but you can't deny that playing with Rondo and two well-above average passing big men like Sully and Olynyk won't help his game.

Whoa whoa whoa. How do you pronounce this guys name?

I've been saying "Ah SEEK" this whole time. Damn.

I have heard a lot of people say BOTH "ah-shick" and "ah-sheek" - not sure what is correct. I thought it was Shick.

What does any of that have anything to do with your original statement which I responded to?

Agree. Seems a little steep to me but it gets the Celtics a center, improves payroll flexibilty and will give Marshon Brooks a run as the backup two guard. Ainge will get to see if he wants to bring Brooks back or not.

I doubt Lee is going to Houston, Basss makes 6.7 mill and Asik makes 8.4 so the Rockets cant take on all that money, it must be a 3rd team, so hopefully that 3rd team getting is giving up a pick.

What a rude awakening for Rockets fans lol.

This is the most fun I have had since making an iPhone dirty movie with my wife at lunch a half hour ago.
