I met Truth at the Barclay's center the night we drafted Tatum. It was quite a celebration. Glad I went to a draft, knocked an item off my bucket list. Hopefully there will be another one to attend someday. Truth is a great guy.
I bartended a Celts draft party once. First person at the bar was Tommy Heinsohn. Just a massive human being. He sat in the back with his wife, nursing his one scotch.
We wanted Keyon Dooling, but he went a pick ahead of us and we were stuck with Moiso. It was like ten straight minutes of f-bombs and shaked fists when Dooling's and Moiso's names were called, lol.
What a legend. Every year I'd be in awe opening night that tommy was still commentating and sharp as a knife. Rip buddy, it won't be the same.

They can get up to 44M in cap space without trading Dedmon.
Think they can reasonably sign both Hayward and Gallo outright based on what the deals look like.
It's not the money that baffles me, it's that they already have Huerter/Hunter/Reddish. Signing Gallo and Hayward moves two of those young pieces to the bench for a team that's ceiling is the 5-6 seed I think
There's a reason why Trae signed with Klutch. He's already putting pressure on the organization to win now. He probably thinks he deserved all-nba last year and was tired of hearing the media saying they just couldn't vote for Trae because Atlanta won 25 games
Trae
30-4-9 and shot 36% from three playing terrible defense and with just a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio
Luka
29-9-9 and shot 31.6% from three playing terrible defense and with just a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio
the only difference is one guy has Porzingis and his team boxes out so he gets a handful of uncontested defensive rebounds a game and the other plays with a bunch of kids but shoots better.
So if Trae is thinking he should have made an all-NBA team he has a point. When is the last time a guy averaged close to 30 points and 9 assists and DIDN'T make an all-star team. Oh that's right, it's never happened. Only Oscar, Westbrook, Harden, and Doncic have done it and they all made all-NBA.
as a reminder the following made all-nba over him
Chris Paul
17-5-7 36% from three
Russell Westbrook
27-8-7 26% from three
Jimmy Butler
20-7-6 24% from three
Pascal Siakam
23-7-4 shooting 36% from three
If Doncic deserved 1st team (he didn't) than Trae deserved 3rd team with way better stats than the above. Yes his defense sucks but so does Doncic and Westbrook

Do the numbers work again? Or are we just on a draft day high?
Yeah. It wouldn't use their TPE just straight salary for salary since Wiggins makes 29 mil this season
No, I mean for us taking on Wiggins. SWC and I discussed the future lux tax bill several times. Thought it was doable once, decided it wasn't, then now he may be back to it is.

Re: Trade Thread, Part 4: The Hayward Game
If we did manage to do that, I wonder if they'd just take Wiseman at two, or trade 2 for WCJ and 4. I would prefer either of those options to going all in on Harden. If we get Harden, I think it'll be a really unlikable team, just like the Kyrie team was.

They'd want Smart as well.

Then I'd want that Min pick for next year which is when the deal falls apart.

Danny is probably trying to get them to take #26 instead of #14 lol

Then the numbers cease to work unless my math is off. TPEs can't be combined with any other contracts to make deals work unless we sent smart in a "separate" deal to skirt the rules

I met Tommy a few times. Same with Gorman. They are both great dudes. Gorman in particular is every bit the gentlemen you think he is.

Probably some truth to it. But have these guys ever gotten anything right? I look at them in the same light as Incarcerated Bob and Blakely.

This thread has turned into a slow walk down memory lane. The Humble post was fantastic.

Humble was a magnet for that. He pretty much deserved everything he got. Banners I'd bring back lol. Moose just started nonsense threads.

At this point, it will be such a letdown if we just shift around draft picks.

Wiggins and Hayward make nearly equal money so its around the same as just keeping hayward

Re: Trade Thread, Part 4: The Hayward Game
No because Hayward has a trade kicker.
GS would have to throw in some cap fodder because of Hayward's trade kicker. 125% of Wiggins' salary is $34.375 mill. Hayward makes $34.4 but with his kicker that makes $38.4. So GS would have to find roughly $4M in additional cap fodder to send back. Kevon Looney would do it but they wouldn't want to part with him.
One solution would have been a sign and trade for Dragan Bender, their only unrestricted free agent. He would get a 4M+ windfall from the Celtics, who would then waive him so that he can go back to Europe. Alas, Bender is already under contract with Maccabai Tel Aviv. So I don't have an easy solution unless Hayward waives his trade kicker, which he won't do.
