Say what? If they didn't reach out, it means that they didn't want to hire him, and the job was never his. Did Mannix have some sort of brain fart?

As for what the Summer should look like, I'm not going to name names, but I feel strongly about two things:

1. They need some real muscle at the center or pf positions. Baynes would be fine if he has anything left in the tank. I want an intimidator, someone who isn't afraid to commit a hard foul. I never appreciated Marcus Morris enough when he was here.

2. I want no one in the rotation who can be hunted on defense the way they hunted Kemba last year. No weak links, no players who have to be protected in a zone. I want 6-7 guys who can get in the opponents' jock and stay there. Last year the perimeter defense was terrible.

Even playing selfishly, the Celtics had a top 10 offense last year, and all people want to talk about is offense. I want the new GM and the new coach to be maniacal about improving the defense.

Celts need more offense.

Blazers need defense.

We already saw the Celts against the Sixers and Nets this season.

Celts clearly need more shooting and offense.

That's something Smart can't do on a regular basis.

They can get it somewhere that doesn't involve paying a small shooting guard 33m a season in his post-prime. And if they can't, tough. This team was better on offense than defense last year. I wish we saw the Celtics play the Sixers this year. They'd probably be going against the Bucks right now.

I really hope this crap with Brad becoming pres wasn't some financial move. That was the speculation at first, and the Cs have done some heavy PR to ensure everyone that this wasn't the case. But what a black eye on ownership if it was, and this Presti stuff just makes me smh and wonder more.

And if they offered the job to me, it would be mine. Presti is just friend with Mannix or some **** and he grew up in the area so he is naturally linked to the team for no reason beyond that.

Kemba was the weak link on defense.

Smart is the weak link on offense.

Opposing teams always dare Smart to shoot.

Celts never beat the Nets and Sixers in the regular season this season.

Just because the Celts were better on offense than defense this season, that doesn't mean the Celtic offense is elite.

Reason why CJ McCollum is getting 30m a year is because he's an elite shooter and scorer.

McColllum is more than just a Seth Curry or Joe Harris.

The Celtics didn't play the Sixers this season with Tatum healthy. Sixers are so easy to gameplan against in the playoffs and Celtics have owned them since Tatum entered the league. Celtics take the Sixers the distance in the playoffs.

I agree, the Celtics offense is not elite, nor is the defense. They are not in a position where they should sacrifice a cheap player who is great at defense and good at playmaking for an expensive player and older player who is good at offense and terrible at defense. How many scrawny offense-only guards do the Celtics need to have in a row that suck the life out of the team defensively? Thomas, Irving, Walker, now McCollum?

I'd much rather have Joe Harris or Seth Curry. At least Curry can break the game with his shooting and Harris similarly while also being a much better defender. Also both much cheaper.

CJ McCollum makes ~33m a year the next 3. Perfect treadmill player if that's what you want. He will not make Brown and Tatum better. The Celtics do not need another volume shooter who scores at or below league average efficiency every year.

Looks like we'll just have to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks.

I'd like to see it now. Chris Mannix reported that if Boston had offered me the GM position that it would be mine.

I got this idea from Assistant Coach Evan Turner's IG (any word if he's still an assistant coach next season?) ... Grab Andre Iguodala for the BAE or MLE. Unless he's going back to the Warriors. He's an FA, isn't he? I don't care if he's 50 years old. He can help our young team.

He's not that close to being an elite scorer or shooter. In spurts he is elite, but he is streaky. On average, he's merely a good shooter, a decent scorer, and a chucker. Seth Curry and Joe Harris are both better shooters and less selfish players.

And comparable defenders. CJ has negative value on his contract.

A guy like Iguodala/Crowder/Marcus Morris/Jeff Green/Ariza..that type of guy would be a solid addition..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

At this point I'd be happy if Ime'd just toss us another assistant coach bone or two. We need something to gnaw on during in this early summer lull.

PS Now I see he did toss us a final confirmation on Stoudamire: https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2021/07/07/damon-stoudamire-celtics-assistant/?p1=hp_featurestack

The more I look at it.........the more I feel like beal to boston is a done deal. Without needing to trade for him. This is looking even more obvious than the kyrie and KD hookup before it happened. Look at Beal and Tatum's recent comments about one another. Beal even admits there will probably be alot of talk about teaming up in the future. Like come on.....

You're very naive if you think tatum isn't going to be recruiting the hell out of beal to join him in boston when they play together in the Olympics. You think Beal is gonna turn his best friend down AND a legit chance at a championship? My money says no. *Insert it's happening gif*. I'm calling it.

Well Beal Brown and Tatum arent better than Harden Kyrie and Durand but they’re younger and healthier.

Can Beal play point ? He is by definition a SG right ? So the idea is to move Tatum permanently at the 4 if we do this.

Return to Boston Celtics
