Re: Jayson Tatum Thread
I'm not worried.
Tat will be back and he will be a better and wiser JT.
He's not super athletic in the first place, so there's no reason why he won't be back to a 100%.

Heartbroken for the guy, for the team, and for us savages.
Puts a dent in the path to getting into Bird territory.
But Kobe came back from a ruptured Achilles.
Assuming that’s what this is, Jayson will too.

This usually doesn't happen to guys his age, and guys who are not injury prone.

I could be mistaken, but the hard foul that Hart took on him might have something to do with it. It looked like Hart slapped his arm and stepped on his foot and not long after that he went down with the non contact injury. I'm just speculating of course.

Sucks so much. JT had a lot of flaws as a player but his massive net positive on the court was evident more often than not.
Biggest concern now is this eats into a good chunk of his prime, probably won’t be back until he’s 28 and I’m a little worried this is going to linger with him mentally for a long time, it was such a freak getting out of bed in the morning type injury.

Re: Jayson Tatum Thread
It's better that he tore his right and not his left leg. KD and Dominique are the best-case achilles scenarios and both tore their right. Kobe tore his left

Look at the KD he bounce back well. Much older but i will say Durant since the surgery has been very injury prone. Doesn’t mean it will happen to Tatum though.

Re: Jayson Tatum Thread
It sucks that this has to be asked, but am I the only one who thinks his very short offseason (Olympics) and Joe's short rotations played a role in what could be a wear and tear injury?
Can not be proven one way or the other But I find it very plausible.

This is going to be a super unpopular opinion. But I’m happy that he gets to take an extended break from the game (speculating).
His entire career has been nothing but deep playoff runs, Olympics, all star games, yadda ya. Not a lot of time to mentally recuperate from the game.
He’s given so much to the game and to the Celtics. Now he’s going to have a great opportunity for priceless quality time with his two young boys and take his time rehabbing on an unrushed timeline.
I believe it’ll be good for him mentally in the long haul.
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
Certainly plausible. Jayson hasn't had any real downtime for what, two years or more? There is so much science and wisdom now about maintaining optimization for high performance athletes, especially ones that are going at it year round. And at over 6'9" in some cases.
I can't' consider this a "freak" injury, even if non-contact. This one is on Joe and the staff. With KP and Sam sick or injured, and JB coming back from an injury, Joe did not identify anyone on the bench that he could trust for even 3-5 minutes a game, and we had an 8 man rotation during a playoff run that was getting increasingly physical.
So yes, lack of downtime and Joe's short rotation, both very plausible.

Re: Jayson Tatum Thread
I am not familiar with an Achilles tear. Obviously a complete tear is usual a year minimum. Can there be a small partial tear that doesn't require surgery?

Look at the ball he’s played though. Deep playoff runs every year and playing all summer. No rest.
