The "Celtic Front" was quoted "Dont expect anything to happen on draft day" THAT MORNING....and we shipped KG and Paul 4 hours later.

100% agree. Asik will look great next to Demarcus Cousins and Cp3.

I guess this could work

Lee+Motiejunas+2nd round or Llull's/Papanikolau's rights to Phila
Hawes+Bass+Hawks pick to Houston
Asik to Boston

That's fair.

That's a solid big man rotation.

Extremely solid.

I love the way Asik compliments players like Sully and Olynyk's game. Just what the doctor ordered.

I don't expect Asik to be an elite offensive big but you can't deny that playing with Rondo and two well-above average passing big men like Sully and Olynyk won't help his game.

There won't be a better Center out there whose available in the next couple of years that compliments the games of the current roster. From Sully, to Olynyk, Hump, & Rondo....Asik is a perfect fit & combination.

Anyone in a different boat? There's obviously little non-entities like Marshon Brooks that could be included that don't swing my pendulum either way.

I might be willing to throw Faverani in the package with Humphries and a 1st rounder. Like him, but with Asik, Sullinger, Bass, and Olynyk all on the roster, he would be expendable.

Probably more remote, but could see Bradley (+ cap filler) being offered up in trade talks for Asik. We've been hearing talk recently about Bradley's potential asking price next summer being pretty high, and maybe Ainge feels Jordan Crawford can be had for more of a bargain next summer. Once Rondo returns, a three guard rotation of Rondo/Lee/Crawford would still be pretty potent, and we'd have seriously upgraded the frontcourt for the next few years.

The second Houston asks for Bradley in exchange for Asik is the second Ainge hangs up the phone. I'd hope that to be the case, anyway.

If Bradley can be had on a reasonable extension, so would I. Just not sure that will be the case, based on his $8 million per asking price last summer. Given how well he's played this season, would not be surprised to see him at the $10 million per next summer.

That might be the next shoe to drop. If Ainge isn't planning on giving him 8-10 M per going forward, he must trade him now and get something of value instead of letting him walk next year.

I've been wondering this too. Unless Danny won't deal Hump yet since he wants to keep him around for flexibility at the trade deadline.

Why traction was gained through inaction:

This next tweet confuses me. Still wondering why HOU prefers Bass to Hump. Maybe they think Bass has more resale value?

Depends on the pick I suppose. Also, don't discount the VALUE in opening up salary and roster spots for the next few years.

Yeah, true...and you know a deal is fair if both fan bases are thinking they have slightly overpaid. So, how does the Rocket fan base feel about Bass, Lee and (a protected late 1st...Clippers 2015 maybe) pick? :)

This is a realy good trade for both teams. We unload Bass and Lee who have been beaten out by Sully and Bradley respectively, and we gain a center whom is better then anyone we'd be able to sign or draft. The cost of only 1 of our 9 first rounders that we have over the next 5 years is light...

I gladly would have traded Rivers (if its the clipper pick) for this deal.

At this point I'll be devastated if we don't get Asik. It's not even about him as a player at this point... I'm totally consumed by the thrill of the hunt.

I think it's a win win to be honest. I base it on how all of the players compliment the current rosters of both teams. It works for both.

Dwight is only enamored with him self. No surprise there.

I have no problem moving base or lee if the return is a top 15 center. However, I'm not prepared to send a pick towards someone who this time next year will be closing in on a 60 mil contract.

Asheiky Baby!
Depending on which 1st rounder the Celtics trade....
Bass is great, but his departure and acquisition of Asik will allow Sully to slide back over to his natural spot at 4.
Lee is nothing but depth at SG at this point, so not a big loss at all.

All depends on which 1st rounder it is.

Rondo/Rivers
Bradley/Craw

Rivers needs to concentrate on being a 2 guard and give up on the idea of playing at the 1. He's just not got the mental attitude to be a point...imo.

I don't really have an issue with Bass, Lee and either 2015 Clippers 1st or the Hawks pick this year.

Bass has been playing great, gotta sell high on him. Plus we get out of Bass & Lee's contracts. More specifically, Lee's contract.

Getting out of Lee contract (especially 2015/16) makes this potential trade to good to be true.

But as a lot of us posters said, there are not a lot of teams in need of center out their...thats why I doubt HOU can get a better package.

We also have the players that compliment their roster. Bass & Lee should do well down there & their more valuable to that team than Asik is at this point.
