Re: New Rumors and News Thread
I have to say the entire Celtics team attending Big Papi's ceremony at Fenway is extremely cool. Probably also starting off Pierce's farewell tour.

Jaylen has all the tools to succeed. The physical pedigree, work ethic and mental desire to improve. It remains to be seen how his bball IQ develops or if he becomes content after earning a paycheck but IMO as of now the sky is the limit for young Jaylen.

Gotta watch this.
Durant is going to regret his choice.
Those guys are never going to get enough playing time.

In case you guys were wondering, Sullinger still looks fat and slow. He's done a few nice things, but that was always the case with him.

If Chris Bosh is ever able to return where is he likely to go?
I remember thinking Channing Frye was certain to never return and now the guy is several years in and still going.

I'm thinking this isn't a foregone conclusion. Bradley, Smart, and Thomas have 2 years left on their current contracts. Decent chance one of them are dealt sometime next season. Rozier's measureables are pretty close to AB, no reason he can't compete defensively versus many of the SGs in the league like Bradley does. And, I'll add, even if Jackson is good enough for major minutes going forward, he is well versed in playing off the ball.
TRoz is a hot young PG who can guard 2's--the AB comparisons make no sense.
Huh? I didn't compare their games. I simply disputed your assertions which, I believe, is based upon some misfit with either Rozier or Jackson with the current group of guards. IMO, the only two you would struggle to pair together would be IT and Jackson defensively. Otherwise, to use your phrasing, it makes no sense to jump to the conclusion you did.

Exactly. I don't think this is going to turn into an Antoine situation where there was a very vocal percentage of people that were displeased with us trading him/letting him go. Sully ate his way out of Boston after vowing to change year after year. Liked him well enough while he was here and when he was "on" but it was clearly time for a change as his playoffs were hard to watch.

It would be totally irresponsible to sign him
So if, and yes I know it's a big IF, Doctors clear the man, and HE chooses to continue his basketball career, every team in the NBA should just refuse to sign the 11x All Star?
Sorry but that's not going to happen.
Some team will take a chance if he chooses to continue playing and medical personnel clears him to do so.
The Celtics have already seen one of their players die on the court. Boston will be at the very end of the lineup to sign Bosh. Hopefully reason will prevail and he will retire.
I dunno?.....It's a bit overblown IMO to say there's "no chance" that he plays again and if he did that somehow "We would be irresponsible to sign him" because of what happened with Reggie Lewis....I mean Reggie had a bad heart....
Bosh's ailment, if i'm not mistaken, is that he could have a stroke....But this time release maintenance medicine (called apixaban) is primarily designed to prevent that from happening....If his heart is fine, then there's a better chance that he could play some more...I mean, he is under a doctor's care...And if they say he can play, then someone will likely sign him...Though they likely won't give him max money...
If I were Ainge, I'd chance signing him short term....On the Celtics, he wouldn't have to play 30 plus minutes a game either...But he could still fill a very important role....much like Bill Walton did back along....I'd think he would fit right in to what we do...
I'd give him a chance...JMO

Re: New Rumors and News Thread
It doesn't seem like Bosh can play, but given where Miami is right now and how much money they'll clear from the cap if insurance pays for his contract, it wouldn't surprise me if they're not looking too diligently for a medical solution.

There is a pretty strong belief that no NBA team will clear him. Frye's situation was more of a "get it corrected and under control and he's good to go" vs Bosh's which continues to come back. He might need to be clear for a year or more at least.
I really don't expect to see him playing for a team anytime soon, if ever.

I have to disagree. Obviously, Sully will never be a skinny dude who flies around the court but it does appear he's lost some weight and was moving around pretty well.
He started at PF next to Val and did a good job contesting out to three against Draymond, chased down a few long/offensive rebounds, and ran the floor. Also had a nice help side block. Then Toronto subbed out Val and went with a Patterson-Sullinger front court.
Of course, we have seen this story before. Sullinger's issue is he tends to gain weight and lose the conditioning gains he made in the offseason as the season wears on.
Still a little confused as to why Boston didn't retain Sullinger and let Zeller walk...

Nothing to be confused about. Sullinger is a player who doesnt take his conditioning seriously. By the end of the year when your coaching staff is sitting him extended minutes because he cant keep up you will understand

Because he's not good and his attitude when he doesn't play regularly is poor. Zeller is content to come off the bench and is prepared when called upon. Sullinger would have sulked and gotten fat.
And he looks just as big as he always did. This is another case of you seeing what you want to see vs what is actually there. And he also had poor pick and roll recoveries several times. He and Valanciunas together against front line starters is not a good match at all. Teams who have guys who can move will kill them.

I am a Celtics fan why would I want to see Sully in good shape in Toronto?
He is a big kid who will be slower than average at PF.
That does not mean he isn't in better shape than how he finished last season. He clearly is.
The question is whether he can sustain that throughout the season.
Valanciunas is the bigger problem for them defensively. He is flat out stuck in mud on that end.
