Sorry Celtics Nation.

Tatum seems like a dude that will put in the work to get back ASAP.

They most often don’t do surgery right away. They let the body start the repair process first so he’s not in surgery rn

Not only is Brad dealing with the 2nd apron but he's also a crutch.

Puts a dent in the path to getting into Bird territory.
But Kobe came back from a ruptured Achilles.
Assuming that’s what this is, Jayson will too.

Kobe came back from the Achilles to shoot 37% and 35% in consecutive seasons. That wasn't the Kobe Bryant I remember. Not sure what you're talking about. If there's an example of someone coming back successfully after this injury, it isn't Kobe.

Same goes for KD.

They are never the same

How many GMs would have that relationship and would have taken that action?

Brad's dull as could be, but obviously a solid human (and great GM).

KD is the best-case.

Luckily Tatum tore his right Achilles like KD, not left like Kobe (assuming that's what it is)

Yeah KD has made a couple all NBA teams and several All stars post injuries. Tatum may be a rung below KD as a player but he is also younger (at time of injury). I am optimistic for him long term, though I don’t expect him to be a perennial 1st team all NBA guy.

Why does it matter which one? Just curious.

But if you look after the surgery he has had a lot of nagging injuries. The guy hasn’t stayed healthy.

Don't forget that they eased KD back into shape and he wound up pulling a hammy. I'm not saying the achilles and hammy were related but when you compensate during a recovery stage it isn't uncommon for other injuries to happen. Then he had the knee sprain the following year. It took him a few years to be able to play almost a full season. It wasn't like he was old either, he was only 30 when he tore his achilles.

Lots of times it's because of compensation for the initial major injury.

All the injuries that followed were on the left side.

Heartbreaking turn of events for the Celtics. Tatum going down with a serious injury is the worst-case scenario and something that no hoops fan with a heart wants to see. With that said, the series is not over. Boston needs to play with Celtic pride in game 5 and extend the series. Make the Knicks earn it. If Boston shows up and plays for Tatum, they will take care of business and extend the series.
Game 6 would be dubbed the celebration game for the Knicks and their faithful. Everyone and their mother would expect the series to end at MSG. BUT....Why not come out swinging and stun them? Boston has nothing to lose right now. Everyone has the Knicks moving on to the East finals. If Boston can take care of business at home in 5 and then steal 6 then anything is possible in Boston for Game 7. Not to mention the pressure would be entirely on NY to avoid a 3-1 collapse.
Although I expect the Celtics to lose, I wouldn't be shocked if they give the Knicks a run for their money. Like I said, the Celts have zero expectations moving forward. Win 1 and survive to see another day. This team is still good enough to come back and win the series.

Do it for Tatum

Well, confirmed. Next year or even this summer will be interesting.

Return to Boston Celtics
