Not sure how a trade for Jrue would even be able to be done. That contract as currently structured is hard to match.

Can some sort of a re-signed contract, or renegotiated contract be doable?

All I know is that the below lineup would be absoltue death for any team to compete against.

White/Pritchard/???
Jrue/???/Svi
Brown/Walsh/Hauser
Tatum/Brissett/Stevens
Porzingis/Horford/Kornet

I would assume that either Horford or Tinmelord would HAVe to be included in a deal with Brogdon for Jrue

Several reports have linked the Celtics as likely bidders for the defensive-minded guard. However, multiple league sources told MassLive they do not expect Boston to come out on top in what is guaranteed to be a competitive bidding war among contenders in both conferences.

B Robb makes a lot of sense. Pass.

Too much is unknown with this Celtics team with the Porzingis addition and losing Smart and G Williams. Might be better to see how things play out for a while and see what you need at the mid-season trade deadline.

Well he averaged 19 PPG on the team that had best record in the NBA, 38% from 3 on 6 attempts per game. 41% from 3 the year before that.

Had a 34% assist rate last season. The highest assist rate last year among guys on our team right now is only 21.5%.

All while playing 1st team all-NBA level defense.

It would be a big upgrade over Brogdon..Jrue is also much more durable than Brogdon.

And Brogdon has been known to be disgruntled on pretty much every team he's been on..while Jrue won NBA teammate of the year award for like the last 2 years in a row.

Question is, is a trade realistic? idk,..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I don't think renegotiating contracts is a thing in the NBA..

It is, Myles Turner just did a renegoiate and extend last season.

From that deal

"Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner has agreed to a two-year, $60 million contract extension that includes an additional $17.1 million renegotiation on his 2022-23 salary, his agent Austin Brown of CAA Sports told ESPN on Saturday.

The deal will include a $17.1 million renegotiation bump -- the largest in NBA history -- on Turner's $18 million salary this season, with an additional $41 million over the next two seasons that ties Turner to the Pacers through the 2024-25 season.

The Pacers are allowed to increase the money on his current deal because of the franchise's available salary-cap space.

Turner's extension eliminates one of the top possible centers from free agency in the summer -- and ends the speculation of a trade deadline deal involving him."

But yeah, it doesn't apply in the jrue situation. Whoever trades for him though can extend him in 6 months.

Am told Heat, LA teams, Boston,Chi., Philly are teams of interest to Holiday. (Perhaps others, but those 6 in no order were mentioned to me). Beyond Portland distaste for Heat assets, Miami must reconcile this: Acquiring&giving big new deal next summer makes them tax team for yrs

Chicago imo would be ideal. Keep him off the top east teams and could free up Caruso, who is already a bit redundant with Jevon Carter they just signed.

People give Lopez a ton of credit but what about losing not only Holiday but J. Carter? Lot of back court defense lost this off season.

I see Philly as logical with Harden wanting out and he still has value.

I can't wait for this season to start and it sucks we have to wait until the end of November to play the Bucks. There's going to be so much hype around them. I'm not convinced they are the clear cut favorites to win it all.

That's the funny part, these other teams just don't have that much to offer.

Good point about the Carter loss. They had 2 dogs out their defending and hounding dudes out on the perimeter (Jrue, Carter). Now they have 0.

Plus, their best wing defender is gone (Grayson Allen).

So they went from 3 good perimeter defenders to 0.

I understand the interest in Jrue Holiday but to me relying on Rob Williams and Porzingis to be healthy for the playoffs with no real big behind them is a very dangerous situation.

If you can have a core of Jrue JB Tatum & KP you make it happen. Everyone else should be on the table in the trade.

4 potential all stars…

Ok, here's my idea.

-Al, Brogdon and Pritchard for Jrue works in the trade machine. Do it!

-2 roster spots become open. We use them to sign Payne and Biyombo.

-Look, I love Al. But he's 37 and he'll be 38 during the 2024 NBA finals. He couldn't shoot in the playoffs last year and his all around game will probably be getting worse this season. If he's not hitting shots, he hurts us on offense.

-With this new lineup I have outlined, you play KP and Tatum most of the time at the 4 come playoffs. You can alternate Rob and Biyombo at the 5. Sometimes you could put KP at the 5 too, with Tatum (or Lamar, the Giannis-stopper) at the 4.

-Biyombo is big, strong, tough, physical. He can mix it up in the paint with Giannis, Brook and Portis. If we don't have enough size/strength in the paint, those 3 guys will kill us at the rim.

Projected lineup:
C KP
F Tatum
F JB
G White
G Jrue

Bench: Rob, Lamar, Biyombo, Hauser, Payne

Deep bench, reg season mins eaters: Brissett, Svi, Kornet, Walsh, Banton

That's our regular lineup but against Milwaukee I would probably go big, to match up better with them..so I'd start Rob and bring White off the bench as the 6th man.
