My biggest worry with the Love thing is that if there isn't a mystery 3rd player. I don't see Love signing long term. The team just wouldn't be good enough to warrant it if he just wants to win. It would be a playoff team in the East that can make the playoffs but do no real damage. Ainge has to pull off some magic.

The Kings can't afford to trade Ben/their Lotto pick when Love will simply leave next season. They can say they don't care about an extension, but it would be devastating to a team that has been garbage for a decade.

Exactly. other than Love and Cousins, their team will royally suck. Love will definitely not re-sign with them.

Even if the only other move was to get a guy like Asik.. if we rolled out Rondo/Bradley/Green/Love/Asik with one of KO/Sully, Fav, Wallace, Bayless?, and whoever else we added to the bench.. we're a certain lock for the playoffs and really could trouble anyone

If Love came here and made a strong showing in a second round, that's already more success than he has had in Minnesota and I think it would be enough to keep him around

Not in my book. Sullinger's half-decent rookie season (at the same age) was much better than McLemore's.

McLemore has shown nothing of value at the NBA level yet - doesn't do anything well.

There is no lock we land Asik that's my point. Without something already laid out it lessen's the Celtics chances for sure IMO.

I just don't see the Kings putting together a better offer than us. We have way too many first rounders. Thank god for the Brooklyn deal last year. Danny didn't get NEARLY enough credit for pulling that off, he should have immediately been the frontrunner for executive of the year.

Let's see if he can bring back three first rounders in the Love trade-- THAT would get people's attention.

The Sac rumor could just be a rumor floated out by Timberwolves brass to try and get the celtics to offer more than what they're currently slated to offer. I dont believe for a second that Sacramento would trade the farm for one year of K Love.

I really just don't see another team outbidding the C's and to state otherwise is crazy talk.

That's not really true, though. THere are several teams that COULD outbid Boston. Yes we have a lot of picks (most of which only have theoretical value), but teams could offer up tangible talent for Love.

As much as everyone is excited, this is a long way from being over. Jackie MacMullen shot down the absurd idea that Boston was close to nabbing Love + Melo. Her sources say that the Wolves aren't happy with Ainge's offer and she doubted Boston would land Love.

Yeah, perhaps Ainge is lowballing the Wolves with hopes of raising his offer down the line, but who knows. I think it's silly to definitively say "The Warriors aren't parting with Klay THompson in a deal" or "The Rockets aren't parting with Parsons in a deal" or "Love wouldn't play in Cleveland if they offered the #1 pick". We don't actually know that. I say Boston has a good shot, but I still think it's more likely we don't get Love.

I know a lot of people like Jackie but she will always be the journalist who claimed KG was going to retire 892374829342 times the season before he reupped for a couple more years. To me, that's sounds like someone who didn't have a clue what they were talking about and just assumed things putting rumors out there.

That's a fair point... but I don't remember her ever conclusively saying that KG was going to retire... just that he was strongly considering it. Which he was by his own admission...

I think she's well respected and has sources.

Nvm. My logo clearly says what team I rep. You didn't have to be so snappy. I was jus asking a simple question but nvm. Btw I have no idea who you are referring to on your username. I probably wasn't even born in that era:

She also claimed just a few weeks before last year's draft that we were going after Milsap or Josh Smith to give KG/PP/Rondo one final run at a chip. She said this not as opinion... she claimed to have sources... so...
