Re: The Tantalizer: Welcome Robert Williams!
Williams already has two strikes for me, but if he owns up to his mistakes and doesn't let it happen again, then all is good.
On the other hand, if he screws up again, just cut him and tell him to enjoy playing in China.

Summer League is OPTIONAL. Not one dime of your salary is for summer league.
The kid went home, got back late. Drop it. Everyone else on that team is dying to be a 2-Way or minimum contract.
Larranga should just back off, instead of huffing and puffing. He'll never be an NBA Head Coach based on the way he reacted. Wreaks of immaturity, with less justification than Williams since the kid is 20 and Larranga is long past that.
Based on comments to the media, Ainge, Stevens, and even Williams himself all seem to be treating this like a big deal. He messed up badly, and he knows it. No reason to overreact as if he did anything irredeemable, but also no reason to dismiss it as nbd.

I think peeps should move on from blasting RWilliams for missing his first summer league practice. Like I said the guy is a country boy moving to the big city. There was likely to be an adaption phase. That does not mean he is a bad apple or anything. By the way the kid looks like a very solid 6'10" IMO.

Williams is the real reason I’m looking forward to watching the SL games. Hope he does great.
It’s also a chance to look at Semi, Yabs, and Allen.
Will Jabari bs playing?

I hope this guy can develop some type of offensive game. Any idea what’s his real height with shoes on? Obviously he plays bigger with his 7-4 wingspan.

I read on another forum that Bill Duffy,(his agent), hired RWIII's assistant High School coach to live in Boston and provide some "life instruction".

I think he looks a legit barefoot 6-9 when next to Danny in the pictures, which puts him at 6-10 in shoes. That us the same height as Al, Dwight Howard, Kendrick Perkins. With a 7-5 wingspan he has the length to play NBA center.
I watched some clips of he practice and listened to the reports, and Williams has a decent mid-range jumper. His form is not bad. Whether he is close to unveiling it in a game is another matter. But he is not Dwight Howard or Kendrick Perkins.

Danny said at the presser that they measured him at the same 7'6" wingspan that they had had Perk at.

Yeah. That's what I read. 7'6" wingspan.

Jammer, that’s called enabling.
Hell no on letting this slide.
I want him to be successful. He has to be a professional. No one is doing bed checks, what you eating, who you talking to. No one is mandating to get in the gym.
Have some damn personal pride and get your ass to the places on time.
You think he is going to read scouting reports? Kid embarrassed himself. I hope he knows it.

I hope that he does learn from this stuff. He is lucky that he is blessed with physical gifts.

Cut him? That seems a bit extreme.
I get the "tough love" stance, but honestly, I'd have a little sit down with him, get the story, reiterate the importance of accountability, work with helping him understand the structure and responsibilities, and move on.
How many strikes does Robert Williams have? ZERO. I'd want him to get this behind him and be 100% focused on getting into his best shape and learning his role on the team, all he's done so far is hurt his own position in learning the team's sets, plus damage to his already questioned reputation.
But strikes? Let's leave that for the season. Strikes would be missing an actual game, abusive relationship with girlfriend, drug or alcohol, excessive speeding, guns on a plane, fighting with teammates, that sort of thing. All Williams has done so far is show some immaturity, but nothing that even remotely would get me thinking to lose a valuable asset in order to prove a "teachable moment".
Honestly, I can't wait for him to come flying in with a vicious putback dunk in the real season. Robert "The Eraser" Williams will be erasing all of this type of discussion as the season progresses. I still see him as a steal.

That's somewhat weird. How much are they paying the guy.
Good assessment:
