Take down Cousins and Golden State in 2019.

Why, at this late stage in the discussion, did you bother proposing a trade that is illegal under league rules?

Yep, if Kawhi doesn't waive the trade kicker, we need to get the salary to 21 mil. Which means Smart S&T, Terry, Morris, Nader, Yabu and the picks could get us to like 19 which under the CBA should work right?

Trade rules question. We have the mle, which is worth about $8.3 mill. Can we sign somebody that SA likes and then flip him to the Spurs for Leonard? If so, it would make matching salaries much easier.

I only think you can sign and trade tour own FA. You could sign somebody and then execute the trade in a 2 months when they are eligible to be traded again...

If we sign a player, they can't be traded right away. Would have to take place mid-season, I believe.

Can't sign and trade a player that isn't on your team. Would not be able to trade a player until December 15 if we used the MLE

Have to sent out $16mm (slightly under, I think there is still the $100k provision) to get to 125%.

How much are you assuming for the Smart S&T, recalling of course that only 50% counts for the Celtics' end of the match? And what salary do you presume he's traded for (100% of his salary counts at that end)? Where does that salary go?

Smart at 12 mils, it'd get us to about 18 mils. ;) Morris- 5, Smart-6, Terry is at around 5 in his last year, Nader 1.5 not guaranteed, and then Yabu at around 2 mils.

Again, I told you so.

I was always under the impression that your input on Boogie came from GSW brass or similar... if that's the case, how does all that reconcile with them signing him? Just because it is a very low-risk situation?

Never know, as things drag out this month Kawhi may cool his jets on LA and focus more towards just getting out of San Antonio and on a winning team. We could be possibly bidding against just Philly as it looks like the Lakers aren't coming off Ingram and instead wait till next summer.

We'll see though, that strategy backfired with George but its not like they don't have other options.

To me this is a pretty bad move on their part. Kawhi is top 5, Ingram will never be imo, too fragile, too skinny, doesn't have the build to gain too much weight. And he wont have a position if Kawhi joins them next year anyhow, also this will be his 3rd year and next summer he'll be just a year away from UFA. Just generally a weird move on their behalf.

All year long, Russillo said that LeBron was staying in Cleveland, doubling down multiple times in the winter and spring. I dont trust his ‘sources’ at all.

It came from multiple people and multiple NorCal teams over multiple years. Ws have a position of need, and an established vet team that may serve to limit his damage in the locker room. Low-risk on their end, but not an impact player.

Again, Russillo's sources are the bottom of a bottle and dried Rorschach tears on a bar napkin.

To be fair, he said they were very much in the mix. Doesn’t mean there was no truth to it. I find it hard to believe, but it did sound like they tried to get another star to come.

Cap question. Is my understanding correct that we could sign and trade Monroe on a 1-yr deal and his $ would count 100% for matching as long as his raise is less than 20%? So he could get $5.99m and the full thing would count in a trade?

If true, the minimum value in current players is something like this:

Kawhi waives kicker, so his salary is $20.1m, meaning we would need to send out $15.1m (since outgoing salary is less than $19.6m you can take back outgoing salary + $5m).

Monroe sign and trade (1/$5.99m) + Morris ($5.38m) + Yabusele ($2.67m) + Nader ($1.38m) = $15.4m

Good cap math?

Not saying San Antonio accepts of course. If you throw in the SAC pick, though, that's pretty close to what Cleveland ended up getting for 2-yrs of Kyrie, lol

Clarkson's bad deal, 1-yr of Hood, Zizic and #8
