I've seen about half. Great list.

I watched a Korean series on Netflix after a trip to Spain called “Memories of Alhambra”. It was really cool series about VR gaming gone crazy. Surprised at how well done it was. I didn’t see Train to Buhan on that list but that was a really intense zombie flick.

I've been meaning to check out that series since I saw it on Netflix but just couldn't squeeze it in yet. Train to Busan was on this other good list of purely Korean flicks:

Saw Bad Boys For Life, and I loved it. Much better than the second one. Martin Lawrence......surprisingly good.

I have this issue with Roman Polanski. I recall watching a couple of his movies - I think Chinatown and Frantic - and getting the vibe that he was glorifying middle aged / older men who were clearly attracted to a younger teenage girl but had enough resolve to hold back, or what not. I don't really remember, but once you read up on who he is, and once you read his own account of what happened in 1979, it's tough to just forget, and easy to be reminded.

If he were a better director, I might still be willing to respect him as such.

Here's a good conundrum: this song was written by R. Kelly:

IMO Pieta is the movie that Oldboy should have been, and is probably my favorite Korean movie. If we are talking Asian, Love Exposure is an amazing, underappreciated movie, though (like Pieta) probably not for everyone.

Pieta and I Saw The Devil are better than anything this person lists. Even though it’s a great list

Fair enough. I don't know his work well enough to comment on the specifics.

I will say that Woody Allen's Manhattan seemed creepy to me even when it first came out. (Manhattan was Allen's first non-comedy, and it was about the relationship between an adult man and a teenage woman. It was his first film after the autobiographical comedy Annie Hall.)

My gf got me watching it...I started out like whatever make her happy and then it ended up being enjoyable. Over the top but for a show she picked we can do much worse. Guy is such a creep

Ya I watched with my girl too. When I commented that the the guy who played joe was a good actor she tried to get me to watch gossip girl (I guess joe's in that show too). Had to draw the line there. The season did get more over the top as it went on. Interesting twist to end season 1 but better Call Saul season 4 was just posted to I'm on that now.

That’s funny bc my gf also watched gossip girl and I guess his character is such a contrast to this creeper he plays on you, that it took her awhile to adjust to seeing him in this role. If u think you season 1 was over the top wait until season 2- it’s ridiculous and makes 1 look tame. Type of thing u just watch and just roll with it because it’s so unbelievable and it’s only entertainment

I agree. I thought Penn Badgley (Joe) was fantastic. Creepy, but with a heart? Anyway, I still am not planning on watching Gossip Girl...

Anybody tried any books by Mark Lawerence? I'd recommend him if you are looking for an entertaining series to try. I finished The Broken Empire Trilogy not too long ago and am close to finishing The Red Queen's War, also a trilogy, and I've really enjoyed them.

I've just learned that Mark Hollis, the singer for Talk Talk, passed away a year ago. This guy had a unique voice (literally and figuratively) and was way ahead of his time.

These two songs are 30-35 years old, and IMO they sound fresher than most music produced today.

And one more, from his solo record, also older than more than half of this board, and sounding timeless as if it was released yesterday or 10 years from now...

Underwhelmed by Locke & Key. I'll just pretend the Netflix series didn't happen.
A written lit series Netflix did well with imo was ASOUE. I could re-watch that and still be pleased like I re-read the books.

On to Narcos: Mexico S2.

Almost bailed on Who Killed Malcolm X? halfway through first episode, but it's a good one. Was originally meh on the whole amateur cop aspect of the dude, but there were several thought-provoking layers to it, and they didn't try to oversimplify. Apparently got the case reopened, and some historical importance overall.

As to Korean film, always loved Wong Kar-wai, even after he got weird.

We took our son to see "Sonic the Hedgehog" last night, and I must say I was fully entertained. My son even dressed the part.

Lol. Just got back with my daughter and I feel exactly the same.

Season 2 of You is definitely not as good as outstanding first season, but somehow is more fun to watch. I struggled to get through first 3 episodes - kind of like watching the Don’t F* with Cats documentary - it was really creepy but when other characters turn in more interesting directions the show gets more fun.

That’s how I looked at it too , 1st 3 episodes I hated every new character introduced and each character as it went on and it got more outlandish I actually started to get excited to see over the top the writers would go with the characters and plo
