Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
This may be the one draft anyone at 14 is realistic, just as they are at 23.
Everyone is guessing with no insight into these prospects. And I'm confident a good number of NBA teams will have a different board than the Ringer has as they will be relying heavily on their college and international contacts to tell them what they think of so and so since they're the only ones that have been able to get them in a gym outside of game time.

Who fits that in the 5 -
15 range?
Okoro
Onyeka
Hayes
Hali
Pat Williams
In particular, I think Okoro is a jumper away from superstardom. Legitimately, if he can become average there he's an All NBA with his defense, FT drawing and elite interior finishing. He's built like a tank. He's like a larger, twitchier Smart.
Honestly, if he slides past like 7, I'd do everything in my power to trade up for him. This is the exact kind of draft where in retrospect the best player almost assuredly won't go top 1-2 and Okoro IMO has the goods to become that "best guy in this draft" kind of pick.
Hali would be a great consolation. We still need more shooting, and having a P&R initiator at his size to take ballhandling pressure off Tatum and Kemba would be a welcome addition. He could easily run the bench unit as a rookie IMO.
Ainge will prob be patient and let whoever slides to him become his guy but if there is someone he loves, I am all in favor of pushing the chips in like he tried for with Winslow.
I want 2 of those 5 guys,. Kemba and our picks are on the table for them.
IMO
Haliburton or Hayes
Williams or Okoro
Onyeka or Wiseman
Dream draft.
I really love Okoro, but I think Wiliams might be the better pro, he already has a more advanced offense and certainly a better shooter.
Haliburton will contribute right away, and will always be a high floor mid ceiling player, Hayes could be a star but has a lower floor.
OO and Wiseman, I love either. I think OO fits our team better as I believe Wiseman wants to produce offensively.
Realistic... Vassel, Nesmith, Kira Lewis, Terry, Precious, Pat Williams, J Smith, S Bey (in that order) or a slider at 14
At 26, Lewis, J Smith, S. Bey or Ramsey
At 30, Ramsey, T. Bey, Carey, Read, Reed
Guys I want no part of Hampton, Anthony, Maxey, Maledon, McDaniels, Green, Pokemon.
I have always been pretty high on Hampton, he is looking better and better since the shutdown.
Why are you down on him?

Nbc sports has us with
Hampton at 14
Stewart at 26
Bolmaro at 30
I can het behind the 1st 2 picks but have about 10 choices other than bolmaro at 30.
Also they have Wizards getting Okongwu. If that happens then bryant gotta be available right?

Btw, does anyone have a nightmare scenario?
Players that seem like they would be available at #14 that would have you yelling at your tv, pulling your hair out, and calling for the head of Danny Ainge?
Mine would without question be Cole Anthony.

He is not a 5, he is a meh rebounder for a 4, he is truly a big wing /Stretch 4 that can create mismatches. He has a good chance to be a Tobias Harris type, really solid stretch 4
He looks like if Aaron Gordon played defense like Jabari Parker.
Great comparison

ha ha ha I used to defend Cole Anthony and I still think he's overly maligned because his game will translate to the NBA better than it did college, but now that I've researched this class he's pushed into the 2nd round. But that's a sign that the class is so good, not that he's necessarily going to bust. But yeah, if he's the pick at #14 I'll just shake my head and think typical Danny
Some other names I'd cringe over if I hear called for #14 are: Toppin, Smith, Williams, and Maxey.

More short dudes.
Trying to be cute with pick trades and having Reed go 1 pick ahead of us a la Clarke.
P Williams, J Smith, Precious as bigs that can't switch. I'm fine being proven wrong on any of them, though.

Nightmare scenario is trading up or drafting a big before 26 unless it's like Okungwu falling to 14. If he takes a wing or a guard there aren't that many I hate besides Mannion.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
Jalen Harris of Nevada will hands down, unquestionably be a better player than Cole Anthony. It won't even be close. Harris is Jamal Crawford 2.0. Cole Anthony is Trey Burke-ish.
I have no idea why no one sees how good Harris is to the point that he hasn't been mentioned in any mock drafts I've seen - first or second round. He's worthy of a top 20 pick. I think ESPN had him in the 60's on a big board they recently did, which is absolutely insane.

Pat Williams can switch, he needs to work with some proper trainers and proper coaches to learn how and get get those twitch muscles better so that he can be quicker.
The ability is there, imo.

If we draft him, I hope I'm wrong, but that seems like "if he can just develop a jumper". Obviously, people can improve, but he just doesn't seem fluid to me. But, I've watched one highlight reel once, so...

He has some indicators at least— good FT%, decent form.

He does look stiff, but to me I think Kawhi looks stiff as well.

Wasn't commenting on his shooting. I meant "get those twitch muscles better" is similar to people wanting a prospect to learn to shoot. "He'd be great if..."

Probably why he can't hold a 4th quarter lead.
