Re: Free Agent/Trade/Waiver Thread, 2025-26, part 3
Watching some Denver vs. Brooklyn.
Nets about to get another win.
Every win takes them further away from a top 3 pick.
MPJ, Sharpe, and Cam Thomas are impressive.
A combination of Sharpe and MPJ or Cam Thomas would really upgrade the Cs roster.

Wait, do you want to trade for MPJ? I hadn't picked up on that.

This will be settled once and for all in about a month.
If Brad doesn't want to do anything drastic, just get us Day Sharpe.

Simons to the Bucks
Kuzma and Sims to the Warriors
Kuminga to the Nets
Sharpe, Highsmith and Horford to Boston.
Pritch/???
White/Hugo/Scheierman
Brown/Hauser/Minot
Tatum/Walsh/Horford
Sharpe/Queta/Garza
100% need to try and flip Highsmith and Tillman for a backup PG. (Or maybe Nets trade one of their 3 or 4 PGs instead of highsmith

Horford left the Celtics because he thought the Cs were gonna be bad this season.
How did that work out?

That would be cray cray if Horford came back this year.
Having said that, I'd fly back to Boston to great him at the airport.

At the end of the day, we have fond memories of Al, but he has always been a mercenary. Both times he left here (Philly and GS) was about money and apparently a false idea he would be better off as a player in both situations.
Al has made $289 million in his career so far. The Celtics wanted him back. The Warriors gave him roughly $6 million per for 2 seasons. The subsidized veteran minimum salary from Boston would have been $3.6 million per, or $5 million less over 2 seasons. So even with generational wealth in hand, the truth is that he lost faith in Boston and he wanted every penny.
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

Why would the Nets do this? Also you would start Queta over Sharpe.
Jordan Walsh goes top 10 in a 2023 redraft.

Nets can afford to take a chance. Already playing their way out of a top 3 pick, MPjr looks really nice keeper for them. Kuminga gives them a look at not much of a cost.

Thats the one I debated on.
one one hand I dont think they want kuminga at all (only remembering their feeling in offseason) and Simons gives them some firepower.

Sharpe is good though. Much better value wise than Kuminga.
They can take a chance sure but my question is why would they. I don’t see any upside for swapping Sharpe for Kuminga.

I could see it from the Warriors unless they still think they can get value for Kuminga?
They probably need an asset for taking on Kuzma though. Idk that Simms is enough

PatrickK Williams, Boston 2nd and Portland pick from Chicago to Nets
Ayo and Sharpe to Boston?

Bulls say no. They have no need nor desire for anfernee.
if you want Ayo, it would probably cost you hauser and the pelicans 2nd round pick.

Ayo is ok but he's not worth that much
I was thinking about it, if Brad trades Simons for a big, I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Coby White as a rental for Hauser+seconds. He's a better player than Simons although we almost certainly can't afford him after this year

I think Ayo's skill set makes him a sort of Anti-Pritchard which would well enough off the bench.

It's true, his skillset would fit in really well. Turning Simons and Hauser into Ayo/Claxton in a 3 team deal would definitely help the team imo, but you're still somewhat in the tax if you do it (though under the first apron)

No one wants Patrick Williams. Not even the Nets. Bad player bad contract.
