If that's the case, the uncertainty was real. Get something for him now so you don't wind up with nothing later.

Of course he is excited. Play for a team going nowhere vs playing for a contender.

If PG scoring is your thing, the current version of Smart might not be the wagon you want to hitch up to. The only guys on the team shooting worse than Rondo was are the guys who are replacing him!

I am guessing math wasn't your thing in school.

Been having the same thoughts, I know guys are saying Ainge thought rondo would improved but man he should of took the sacremento deal or even tried to trade him in 2011-12 where they would of gotten a lot of goodies for him. But def ainge is on the hot seat if those picks dont turn out to be at least top 8 hes done. You may disagree with me but cs are much closer to another rick potino dark time ages where it could be another 8-10 years+ till cs have a championship team factor in that no one signs here

C's are already in the dark years. This trade was a nothing to lose trade..

Ainge's comments about Smart and his PG abilities should open up some eyes on this board.

No it doesn't. Rondo just tried as hard as he could not to be a bitch about it and props to him. He was loyal and said all the right things. He handled this like a pro should but he didn't want to be here if this is what here looked like and Ainge found him the perfect home.

My feelings are more or less reflected in the multiple excellent posts by Humble, Sully, Soxfan, JFS, Ben & others.

Rondo gave us some truly memorable PO series. However, at the end of day, Rondo was overall a solid pro (NOTHING more) with very unique distribution skills & rebounding skills for his size who has ALWAYS been fatally flawed as a shooter & scorer. His overall play post-ACL (especially offensively) has been terrible, & it would have been utterly disastrous to pay him serious money. Danny should have moved him years ago, & would have garnered a much better return. The current trade was the best out there IMO.

Now Rondo will have a chance to be what he was before - a pass first, non-scoring, 4th offensive option at best surrounded by Dirk, Monte, Parsons & Chandler. He has a chance to be a superior valet for these guys - just as he serviced our Big 3 Super Stars. I wish him the very best. I hope that he can get his competitive mojo back.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

Yeah, no one thinks Smart is a Rondo-level distributor.. He's actually got some Robert Pack in him. But if he locks down that jumper he can be a 20 and 5 guy with room to grow as a point guard..

Have to say, on this team anyway, the offense may run a bit smoother. As good of a passer that Rondo is he seemed to always be looking for the perfect pass which lead to the ball sticking in his hands too long. There may be a bit more passing with Smart playing PG.

You seem confused.

Perk just recently said he thought Rondo should and wants to stay, now all of a sudden he wanted out

As we saw tonight, albeit against the Wolves, this team spreads the ball out well without a pass first point guard.

All the starters as well as Smart and Olynyk had 3 + Assists. A total of 29 for the team. 13 turnovers a bit higher than I would have liked, but not all on poor or risky passes either.

Love the ball movement and energy the team plays with.

This what Perk said
"He should. I think this is a great place for him, and I think he wants to stay here. We talk on a regular (basis). I think he should stay. If I were him, I would stay."

I know I am confused but that reads more like Perk thinks he should stay and he would stay if it were him. But seems pretty soft on the Rondo really wants to stay.

I'm a Rondo guy, but did anyone else get rubbed the wrong way by his comments down at the Dallas press conference tonight?

""I've been fortunate enough to play for future Hall of Famers and great teams and a great coach in Doc Rivers. And to get back to that situation and be able to play with future Hall of Famers and a great coach and a team that's ready to contend for a title, I'm fired up. I'm ready to go."

He's up there talking about how he played for a great coach in Doc Rivers and now he's happy to be playing for a great coach again in Rick Carlisle. Really, bro? I'm not saying Stevens is a great NBA coach but nobody can convince me that that comment wasn't a little shot at Stevens. Was he mad because Stevens benched him in the Washington game a week ago? Stevens looked like he went out of his way to win Rondo over so not sure what Rondo's beef would be. Just seems like some things are better left not said. Rubbed me the wrong way.
