I think most here don't want Sullinger back. Who knows what DA and CBS think about it though

You can have him for a double cheeseburger. That's probably overpaying him by a slice of cheese.

Re: The Official Off-Season Thread, part I of many
So I do have something of a source who is close to Jared Sullinger. She talked to him today, asking if he knows whether or not the C's are interested in bringing him back.
He said, "Looks like I'm leaving" then said, "They want another big. Me and my agent talking to these guys. They don't want me no more".
She asked, "Where would you even go?"
He said, "I got a couple teams calling. Between me and you. ******** been calling the MOST"
Then he listed several other teams as well. I don't want to state the name of the first team but it's a prominent west coast team. Anyway, a lot of stuff people probably know, but that's from his mouth. Him stating they want another big is interesting. I would love to know who they're going after.

I could see Doc loving having Sully around.

Re: The Official Off-Season Thread, part I of many
After we selected Yabusele/Bentil and Zizic, I would really for us to let go off Turner/Johnson/Sully and Zeller and give the young guys(including the back court guys) a chance to contribute and develop as much as they can. Would love to have all 3 of the bigs we selected on the team next season instead of in Europe. I think both Zizic and Yabusele can contribute right away, especially Yabusele, who has NBA body and game, already.
Good assessment:

Going with Brown in this draft should set the team up pretty well at the 1-3 spots going forward next year. IT, Smart, and Bradley make a really good three-guard rotation. And Rozier can continue to get spot developmental minutes. Crowder and Brown can split minutes at 3 and occasional minutes at small-ball 4.
What needs to be focused on now is the shambles of the frontcourt. Mickey and Olynyk are under contract but I view them as the backup frontcourt at best. Sounds like Sully is unlikely to be resigned. Zeller may be gone as well if the team brings Zizic over right away (probably a good idea). Options for our "starting playoff frontcourt" of Amir and Jerebko could certainly be picked up for another year, but I think we'd all greatly prefer a splashy free agent signing. Not sure who makes sense as the best target at this point. (Dream would be Durant/Horford at the 4/5 but that's seems even more unlikely today than it did yesterday.)
So who are the free-agent, front court targets? We need upgrades at the starting 4/5 in the worst way!

Thinking about going into next year with no real moves and a roster like that makes me want to vomit. I think we as fans have been patient enough. Its time to take a swing at the plate and hope for something better. Even going after Horford or Howard for one year i would consider a better option than just reupping everyone bringing Zizic over. Puke puke puke.

A "roster like that" won nearly 50 games and you want to... vomit? Seriously??? Screw that. If there are no "fireworks" you keep working for incremental upgrades, avoiding dumb "splashy" moves. (Save that kind of garbage for the Knicks. They are specialists.)
Now, again, anyone got any insight on realistic frontcourt targets in free agency?

Itz not splashy if youre smart about it. Im not promoting signing Barnes or something that would be dumb but 1 to 2 years of Howard with his skill set at 20 per is nothing under the new cap and would change this team from a 48 win team to probably a 54 win team in the east.

Ainge is building for the long term. He wants a team that will compete for the next 6-8 years. Going to be interesting to see what their plan is for free agency.

Need to go after Whiteside now.. Get him and our bigs would be a KO, Whiteside, Zizic, Mickey.. I think we will play a lot of small ball this year and will see Brown/Crowder playing the 4.. We could go for another big to go along with Whiteside like T. Jones or Televotic... Can alwasy just retain Amir Johnson or sign him to a cheaper contract

Danny Ainge on WEEI said that they're going to aggressive in both Trades and Free Agency. He will start with the Trade part today .I will believe it when I see it.
He also said that if Jaylen Brown doesn't pan out, he deserves to be booed, but we should give him a chance.

Only chance that the Celtics have of signing a big free agent like Kevin Durant, is by making big a trade before July 1. Short of trading for Cousins, Butler, or , Paul George ,James Harden, the Celtics have close to zero shot of signing a big free agent.

Re: The Official Off-Season Thread, part I of many
The biggest area of need is our front court. Horford/Whiteside or Horford/Howard should be our top Priority.
Horford has always wanted to play the 4. Pairing him with one of those defensive Cs would give us the best defense in the NBA. Plus, We can always go small and slide Horford to the 5 when our big lineup wasn't working. That team could literally play any way it wanted. So much versatility. Thats my ideal offseason.
If that doesn't happen. Keeps Amirs expiring deal. Still try and max out one of Whiteside/Horford/Whiteside. Then maybe try and squeeze Evan Turner into whats left of the cap.

Whiteside is absolutely the best move the Cs can make in FA! He solves a lot of problems in terms of D, and rebounding, and is a developing scorer as well.
Am intrigued about bringing the oft-injured Beal over in a sign-n-trade, (Bradley, Rozier, Jerebko?) to bolster our shooting. If we could get both, Whiteside and Beal, retain Amir Johnson... Maybe something like this?
Thomas, Jackson
Beal, Smart,
Crowder, Brown, Hunter
Johnson, Mickey, Bentil
Whiteside, Zizic

I always thought Bradley Beal for Avery and whatever made so much sense for both teams. John Wall is a better fit with Bradley than Beal is as Bradley is less ball dominant, better defender and spot up shooter..Beal is not necessarily a better fit with Isaiah but a much better fit with the entire Celtics roster as he can score in different ways, slash and gives us more size in the backcourt. Would love to see something like that happen.
