Re: Trade Ideas Thread, 2020-21
I have zero interest in Oladipo, who is rumored to want Miami. Oladipo also turned me off by trying to back out of the bubble, then agreeing to play when he realized he wouldn't get paid.
I will take Brogdon and Sabonis for Hayward and filler. Sabonis is way better than Turner if winning is the objective. For that package I'd even throw in Langford, another Indiana home town hero who is the kind of cheap talent that the Pacers want. I would also throw in Kanter if he opts in, but I'm keeping Time Lord. It is pretty obvious that the Pacers are are hurting financially and are in the process of blowing it up.
We'll see if Wyc and Co. are willing to pay the tax for a championship caliber team.

IND is basically revenue neutral with hayward/8. We get Turner, the TPE. Knicks gamble that Dipo is better than #8.
I don't even want Turner really, though....
I dont either. He’s a poor rebounding finesse big who gets pushed around by stronger centers. Hes better than Theis, but he has the same weaknesses as him and we would still be vulnerable in the same ways.
He's a poor rebounder (like all our bigs have been) because he is used to spread the floor away from the basket, exactly how we'd utilize him and have utilized all our bigs with Brad. He's bigger and better than Theis in every way imaginable so his supposed weaknesses are not as glaring as they are with Theis. And the major difference is he's a capable 3 pt shooter so teams would have to respect him unlike with Theis where they stay away and keep the lane clogged which kills Kemba specifically and also Tatum, in the lane and around the rim.
Embiid and Bam both had their way with him, as do most Centers. We need a big who can defend other bigs. Our offense was top 5 last year, we should focus on our weakness, not improving the O.

IIRC, since that Kyrie - IT trade 3 years ago, the only trades DA has been making were involving pick swaps on draft day.

I Agreed to - No Oladipo, and keeping Timelord.
But Sabonis and Brogdon seem to be part of what Indiana wants to keep, moving forward.
I like Turner, McDermott, +1 more person.
for Hayward, + Poirier. We can throw in a pick or so, if necessary.

Hayward opts in early to go home. We pick up a 30M trade exception
We send a top 20 protected FRP in 2021 and Carsen Edwards to OKC for Gallo in a S&T at 3/45M.
Favors wants to leave NO to have a starting role on a playoff team. We offer him 3/34, or the full MLE. Or, if we really want go get funky, can make the above trade a 4 teamer and include a Turner for Jrue piece, which makes them even more willing go let Favors walk unimpeded.
I like that - let IND figure out what to do with Turner. Really NYK could send 27 & DAL21. Lotto protect the 21 since it's not gonna matter most likely, we lose tiny chance of top pick upside but keep 26 this year.
Then can do any variations of Fournier, Gallo, Favors, Harkless, etc with that room.
I like the RoCo version better, but this works.

we would have no room after that. Just a TPE.
And I might be mistaken but I believe that you cannot use the TPE in a sign and trade.

I cannot see why they would do that. But I wanted Brogdon somehow instead of Kyrie.
If we trade away Kemba Malcom is the perfect type of PG

By room I meant the TPE, not caproom - lazy wording on my part.
But, you are mistaken. That's one of the benefits of the TPE is S&T are a lot easier since the player only counts as 50% for the signing team and usually the accepting team has to have cap space or make a 3 team, etc. But with TPE, you can just absorb them.

Yea everything I’ve seen is Brogdon is off limits and they don’t wanna move warren unless it’s the right deal. Also one of Sabonis or turner is gone but most likely and preferably turner.

That would be pretty awsesome then.
Not alot of free agents out there this year but could definately snag a couple i am sure.
Could be looking at wood plus another Free Agent

Bam averaged 15 & 11 against the Pacers that series while averaging 22 & 11 against us. Turner averaged 16 & 11 against the Heat so the notion that he can’t be a good rebounder couldn’t be further from the truth.

I'd love to flip him for Favors. But you violate rules at each step since you can't do the S&T with a 2020 pick.
4-way with Turner to NOP and 13 to us instead.
Wink-wink on who we pick
S&T Favors for the guy at 13.
No way we'd get caught for that right?
My love for Favors rivals my love of Smart. He does everything you need to win games.
I like favors but If I am paying for an older center its Ibaka.
Otherwise I would rather the team sign one that matches the Jays+ marcus timeline.

Why would I trade Hayward for Turner and McDermott? Turner doesn't rebound and McDermott can't defend a chair.

Favors is 29 only somehow. You can get a good contract's worth of production from him while you grow Timelord, Grant, other picks and sort them out over the next couple years.

imagine thinking the Pacers would trade Sabonis straight up for Hayward. Then double down and imagine also them throwing in Brogdon. Good Lord. And 4 people upvoted your take. lol at this sub sometimes.

So anyway. What's the suspense?
Why is Hayward waiting?
He knows that he's going to Opt-in.
He knows that Celtics are going to Trade him.
AND, he knows that his home team wants him.
This is a No-Brainer, ain't it?
Let's get this shindig on the road.

The league lost 700M last year and the small market teams are hurting. The Celtics got a little lucky for once, since Hayward's huge expiring contract is much more valuable than it was before the pandemic. Plenty of teams will be calling Ainge to ask about Hayward.
