Obviously Marcus and Joe. Kind of swept under the rug the whole “blow up with upper management.” In retrospect Marcus thought it was his show and now he’s in Memphis.

Marcus always thought that he was a better player than he is and in turn tries to do too much. He needed to be the sixth man.

The one other weird thing that hasn’t been discussed much is for all of D. White’s ballyhooed regular season advanced stat prowess, it kind of looked the opposite in the playoffs. Suddenly Marcus was the on/off darling and White was in the basement.

Also, just in case anyone forgot from last time. They don't have phones or internet in Europe.

He should ask IT4 about “plenty of time”

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills this guy can set his family up for generations to come and he’s putting it off and traveling the world!?!

This is a big red flag for me and I love the guy. He could forgo going left for the rest of his career and I’ll still support him. But come on! Something has to be up.

I thought I explained it pretty well a few pages back. Jaylen Brown doesn't want to end up being traded next year to a team like Charlotte then he has to spend the next 4 years there. That's the hang up.

Yep, hold up is probably the trade kicker. He doesn't want to end up in Cleveland, Charlotte, etc. without getting more money...

Also, also... I bet Jaylen comes back from Europe skinnier.

Spoiler:
They use their fork in their left hand.

Brown haters ?
The Brown “haters” as you describe are just really curious as to why you’re not just a little bit hesitant to be throwing that type of money at Jaylen ?
I think a majority of us “haters” actually wouldn’t mind keeping Jaylen long term & would be happy giving him the max deal instead.
We also realise with the addition of KP, Brown’s role may need to be a bit smaller (which it should). Are you comfortable to give Jaylen the biggest contract in the league as potentially the #3 option on this team ?

Very comfortable giving him that deal and locking him long term. ( Mainly because in 3 to 5 years his 60 million deal will probably be like in the low 20's of most expensive contract.) Also I'm on a hill with this take but I don't think Tatum and brown would be as good without each other. They both d up and score multiple ways and have been close or perineal ec and went up against some of the greats.

Possibly any of the above.

Also, perhaps add Grant (who got beat off the dribble by Duncan Robinson, probably the first time ever Robinson beat someone off the dribble in the NBA) not giving full effort to the list..

It might just be what Perk said, about Smart and Mazzulla not seeing eye to eye..

Read on Twitter

Perk is the worst. I appreciate what he did for the C's, but the only way he survived the ESPN layoffs is that he gets paid the least.

Perk does have some dumb takes sometimes. But this take doesn't seem so crazy. Like I said, Smart made a few comments late in the season/in the playoffs that indicate he did not respect Mazzulla as a coach (if you need me to post them I will but they're easy to find by searching "Marcus Smart Joe Mazzulla" on twitter)

Marcus being traded soon after the season ended also makes me think Perk might have a point here..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Ok let me back track a bit. Last Sunday My guy told me Atlanta not Indiana was the team who would be getting Siakam. This was posted almost a week before anyone else made this claim. It seems to be coming true.

Now this same guy has stated to me that yes Indeed the Brown and Boston contract is "on pause"..But what was not said is that they are pausing "in case of major market development"

There was no clarity on that given.

Speculate all you want. I don't know. But "if true" it sounds more like Stevens is holding out and Not Brown.

Tatum has played 73 games without Jaylen Brown, essentially a full season. His effectiveness as a scorer doesn't change.
Jaylen Brown has played 26 games without Tatum and while his counting stats are good, his efficiency plummets to Antoine Walker levels.
So I don't think history has shown that Jaylen and Tatum make each other better. Tatum makes Jaylen better. Jaylen makes no one better.

Yeah, I think Smart was really upset with the Udoka decision. I don’t think he hated Joe, but he was definitely critical at times. I wouldn’t go as far as to call it a fire, but there was definitely smoke. They got a great return on Smart, but it’s definitely not unreasonable to think Smart was moved in large part because of his handling of Udoka/Joe.

With that said, again, it was a great return. Shocked me even but Perk is on one.

That's why I prefaced I'm on a hill the stats hold merit but it's just the eye test for me call it a strong hunch.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but I doubt Jaylen would be cool just waiting like that but these negotiations are beyond weird at this point

Also it’s definitely seeing if Dame expands his list if true

I believe you just like I believed ddb. Thanks for sharing. Definitely explains why that imminent extension reported and believed by some on this forum hasn't remotely happened yet.

Curious too about Dame expanding his list, and it will give Cronin the leverage that David Griffin says he needs to land a real haul.
