Celtics are not the second best team in the east. It still the Cavs and the Raptors. Maybe the Pacers. I put the Celtics around 4 or 5.

Raptors could easily lose DeRozan, Afam. If that happens, we should easily surpass them.

Indy is going to be quite good though-- Teague/PG13/Thad/Turner could be a very exciting team. They've had a great off season

I do feel Pelton is one of the only "realistic" guys on ESPN. But most of the minions would rather listen to the Jalen Rose and Chad Ford type morons.

Indy would be good offensively and will now have that small-ball run-and-gun team Bird envisioned for last season. But there are question marks about their shooting efficiency and defense. No one on that starting five other than PG can defend at an above average level if they can't retain Mahinmi.

Anyway, it's hard to say which team would be behind Cavs in the East on paper when offseason has barely started.

Number two in the East? How about we let the rosters settle first.

I agree with that . I added the Raptors only if they retain Derozan.

I know right. It's the day after the draft and people are already seeding teams for the playoffs or lottery if you are Afam  That being said, Pelton is pretty solid IMO.

Oh right. Predictions are dumb, but it doesn't stop us from making them.

I like Pelton but I think its ridiculous to make such an early prediction.

A lot of things need to happen before we get the second seed, mainly Toronto being dismantled in a significant way and the Knicks not overachieving (also remains to be seen if they acquire Howard). At least we know Casey is still there, lol. That's a positive for sure.

The Pacers just got good in a hurry with Jeff Teague and Thad Young joining them. I agree.

Oh of course. I don't think he was saying it definitively, but more speculative. I am no fan of Toronto, Atlanta or Indiana, but you are correct, a lot has to play out.

He literally used the word "potentially" end up No. 2, so I think you're right. :-)

Do we want a separate free agency thread, or are we using this one?

Thing with Toronto to me is they are so Lowry dependent. If he gets more cases of the owies they become ordinary pretty quick.

Knicks I think are classic Knicks hype, they aren't going anywhere right now IMO.

Celts can be #2 but they need to play better and add one more real scorer.

So um Jae, 3 and 16 was our offer or Chicago's?

EDIT: Bulpett's article on Danny was interesting but really just confirmed what we knew before...he tries to win EVERY trade, which costs him when a deal help both sides.
