Building on m last post, Nesmith is very quietly shooting 13/16 at the rim this year (81%).
13/25 from 3-10 feet
7/13 from 10 feet-3pt line
16/19 from the free throw line

The 21/89 from three is ugly and dragging his percentages down but he's been efficient from everywhere else (on low volume admittedly). My point being that Nesmith isn't a guy that's overwhelmed at the NBA level and that's struggling to make shots. He's just in an epic slump in a specific area of the court where he has had a track record of success previously. He'll be fine.

I just don't know if this Kid is going to be around (the Celtics) next year?

He’ll be here because he is too talented to dump and his play (or lack thereof) makes him worthless in a trade. Unfortunately, he won’t get a shot here because he can’t seem to just stand in the corner and catch and shoot wide open 3s.

Nesmith is going to bring alot to the mix next season. there really is not a role for him this season, similar to Grant last season (also yr 2 for grant)

no role, bad luck (timing) injuries, just unable to get into anything consistent ...if it helps just view Nesmith as our missing draft pick this off season

Good game from Nesmith yesterday. Defensively he had some nice hustle plays and did a good job against all his individual matchups even if the team as a whole struggled when he was on Barnes or Siakam. Pretty much shut down Gary Trent.

I wished he had been more involved offensively, he had only eight shots in 39 minutes including at least a couple that came off broken plays. He needs to do a better job of making himself available and the ball handlers need to do a better job of finding him. Hard to be too critical considering all the missing players.

Nice to see a couple threes fall, it's the missing piece for him to get consistent playing time.

Nesmith played with purpose last night. He looks like he got stronger during his time off. I think he may have earned himself an opportunity when his season looked lost. Will be interesting to see if he can build on last night.

Play him 30 mpg until the end of the regulation. No doubt that Aaron will hustle his ass off in the defensive end. It's all about his shot falling. Let dude build some confidence before the playoffs. We'll need him after losing Rob

Though watching Nesmith's missed 3 pointers are excruciating, especially as a Nesmith stan, It is also clear as freakin day, he brings that M Smart type of infectious energy that playing him is always a positive in my eyes.

Let's go boyee!!

the game needs to slow down for him. he will get there, like grant did. even jaylen was a spaz early on. once he settles in nesmith will be huge. love his energy and his shot will come around.

I was thinking the same thing. It looks like he has been hitting the weights. He's got more game than just a 3-point shooter. Energy/hustle, rebounding, taking the ball to the hoop, defending. Looking forward to see what he does with the opportunity he is given.

He showed some flashes, but idk...
I trust our player development system. Like Grant, Rob, Pritch carved out significant roles, while staying in the same boat with Romeo and Aaron. Don't wanna call the latter two "busts", but they were not able to show enough in one of best developmental environments.
Anyway, wishing him the very best.
P.S. No blames on Brad if dude suddenly turns into a 20 ppg, 0.45 3pg machine, okay?)

Yeah, can't say I don't have a small part of me that regrets not having him one more year and a spot to show something to drum up more trade cache, as I'm a show and go obsessed RealGmer when it comes to draft picks. Always prone to want to squeeze the last bit of toothpaste out before tossing the tube. But, weighing this trade as Theis and 2 very late 1st round draft picks (depreciating Nesmith), it sits fine with me 100%.

I really think he will be a good 3 and D wing, he just did not get enough PT to develop here. I think its a shame, but given the return the trade tottaly makes sense. We are going all in right now, and Nesmith is a couple of years away. Maybe he comes back on a midlevel deal in a few years.

I dont know, he got a lot of chances and missed a lot of open threes. Was rooting for him because the hustle ws always there but he never looked like he was going to get it and it seemed like even Hauser had passed him by the end of the season. Maybe more playing time will get him going…

Remember I said it first..

I see a Malik Monk career path. He probably fails in Indiana but at least gets more burn and then some luxury cap team gives him minimum deal for bench spot and he takes off. The talent is there….he just doesn’t know how to play basketball at the elite level needed for NBA yet.

that is a fair Comp.. MM was a known shooter coming out of college like Nee, struggled with sporadic playing time. when Monk got it, he improved quite well. Different positions but Grant Williams as well. Consistent time DOES matter.
