Haha my gif was referring to the possible low cost of acquiring Paul George. HUGE IF TRUE. Since I'm not among those who believe it's a contending Pacers or Lakers for him, I don't mind the risk of him possibly walking after a season with a team that's as close a contender as one can get (short of being the Cavs and Dubs). He will not leave once he plays in green.

Are you a "PG in addition to Hayward" person, or "PG instead of Hayward". Having both would make it really difficult for Fultz and Jaylen to grow.

One or the other. I'd prefer the other acquisition to be a big. Zizic (and Yabu if they don't stash him) won't be ready to play NBA-calibre defense from the get-go.

Hayward will cost a player or two to open up cap space. George will cost more assets but is a better matchup against Lebron. Talent-wise and in terms of fit, I don't think they're that far apart, but I'll take the bigger player.

Acquiring Willie Cauley Stein

Post#82 » by unearth » Sat May 27, 2017 1:22 am

With Fultz likely to be added to the roster, the Celtics will be even deeper in the backcourt. It would make sense to clear the glut at point guard and add a big man. Willie Cauley Stein would be a great pickup for us as a young, athletic shot blocker and finisher. What does everyone think of a deal built around Terry Rozier for Cauley Stein? Share your thoughts.

Not a terrible idea. Contracts work I think too

Rozier for a big is interesting. Haven't checked on WCS in awhile - did he really show enough in the last couple months of the season to warrant that trade? Terry is a better prospect, but a small.

Min-Celtics trade

Post#85 » by AlfieJaegar » Sat May 27, 2017 5:44 am

Minnesota fan here.I've a trade that won't make a lot of sound but can be effective for both sides.

To Bos:Aldrich
To Min:Zeller,Pick #36 and Pick #53

Boston get a guy that can crash the board.I think Aldrich can be very effective with the touch of Brad Stevens.Min gets an expiring contract to pay their young core and get two second round picks for future.

I'd rather the Celtics just use those picks on stashable european players than trade trash for more trash. Maybe I don't have a good handle on Aldrich's game, but what does he do well?

Is this a draft day trade?
Zeller might be used for trade for a star for salary-matching purposes.
2nd round picks could be used to consolidate to move up late 1st.
Celtics looking for starter-calibre big. Zizic projects to be the backup C, which what Aldrich is. I liked him as a Clipper.
So no to this.

He can help Horford for rebounds and he has a good contract.I live in Turkey so I watch Zizic a lot but he won't be a solution for the near future.Aldrich can play in PO to help teams problem with rebounding.

Can AB, Crowder and Rozier, we can also add picks....get us PG13 ???

Than go after Hayward or Griffin...position wise Griffin would be better.

it/smart
brown/fultz
PG13/brown
griffin/pg 13
horford/zizic

Heck I would also do AB, Crowder, Smart for PG13? With Rozier staying.

We are so deep in back court that we can really offer a great package for PG imo.

I wouldn't do it on draft day, but, I would not mind going this route if they strike out on big free agents. C's will need Zeller's salary to come off the books to sign a 20mm+ deal. But I was a proponent of signing Aldrich instead of Zeller last off-season, but the agreement to make the contract a 1+1 unguaranteed cinched the deal for Zeller.

So, it wouldn't be for the 2nd THIS year, but 2 future second rounders and Zeller would appeal to me.

Depending upon which big men were sitting there at #18, Bradley to Indy for the pick might be a play enticing to both parties. Ideally I'd try to get another asset from Indy, but, considering the depth this year, 18 could be thought of as a mid-lottery pick in many draft years.

Maybe forget Hayward. Trade Crowder, Rozier and nets 18 for PG13. Sign Gallo for 20m.

IT/Fultz
Bradley/Smart
PG13/Brown
Gallo/Yabe
Horford/Zizic

That's a lot. How about sign Hayward and trade Crowder. Rozier and Nets 2018 for a PF?

That's the problem (a good one) that Ainge has. Hayward can be had just for money. George, you have to deal with resigning a contract. I think George is slightly better than Hayward, Hayward is younger and probably will play longer. I like signing players that cost no money, and then trading for a player after that.

That's why I think it is Hayward first for Boston, then they will do some other stuff. If Crowder gets traded at the draft, I think that could be an issue too.

How about Crowder/Bradley plus picks and whatever else salary wise for Whiteside....You would obviously go in on that after a Hayward signing but you could roll out:

IT
Fultz
Hayward
Horford
Whiteside

I threw out Rozier, jackson and the clippers pick on the trade board. most thought not enough value for WCS. Sac fans like how he played after the Cousins trade and seem uninterested in moving him really.

Well, since the Cousins trade, he averaged 12.9pts, 8.1rbs, 0.9blk, 50.4 FG%.
Same with Skal Labissere : 10.8pts, 6.0rbs, 0.5blk, 54.1 FG%

They have two young big guys very promising.

Not impressed with a guy who's played 7 seasons and never averaged more than 5 points and 5 boards. And those years were kind of outliers.

IMO Whiteside is just not a good fit here. Both in terms of his game (-shooting/-passing) and the douche factor.

He's an unhinged idiot w/ a limited game. If we're not taking on Boogie for pocket change, we're prob not gonna mess around with a Hassan Whiteside for any realistic price. Dealing with Pat Riley for one of his best players also just seems unlikely. Pat Riley is a huge dick.

Get Hayward first, then you can play with the ESPN trade machine all day long.

IT and Nets 2018 for Porzingis?

Crowder for OQUINN and 1st?

Zeller for Tyson Chandler?

Crowder and Smart for Drummond?

Rozier for Oquinn?

Crowder, Bradley, Smart, non Nets 1st's for Paul George?

Return to Boston Celtics
