Only name on that list I remember besides Jamal Crawford is Danny Fortson. And I can't even remember why I would even remember the name Danny Fortson.

With the trade I will double up on my prediction that Abdel Nader is going to be the most surprising rookie to emerge this year. Not going to be a star but his hustle will get him minutes and teams are going to kick themselves for not noticing him. And yes Nader is my binky this year. :D

I vaguely remember Kevin Stacomb as being a second string backup combo guard....He was an Ok shooter and a fair playmaker...

Danny Fortson was built like a brick sh_thouse....He was as tough as nails...and he was an undersized (as far as being tall) power forward that we got from Denver I believe....and he could really rebound...Got most of his buckets that way...

And of course...Jordan Crawford.....the unconventional (by default) point guard who took the most grief from this board....I'm sure Caveman, back then, claimed him as his very own? :)

The others I don't remember...

Theis is 25....but has quite a lot of European experience......Do you suppose he could step in and fill that needed backup big man slot?

He might offer up some decent minutes?

I'm with you on the Nader prediction. We can go on the limb together. I think he rotates to the two spot which is why they have been working on his ball handling. At 8' 7" reach and a 7' 1" wingspan he provides some backup length at that spot the C's don't have. Smart only has an 8' 3" reach and a 6' 9" wingspan.

That means he must play good D and limit turnovers which I think he can do. He has an assistant in staff that believes in him in Morrison and that will make a difference.

Indeed. I can see Theis becoming a rotation player at some point.

Theis in his second eurobasket game with solid 20 minutes. 6PTS, 4REB, 3/6FG%, 3PF, 1TO, 5STL, 2BLK.

Small observation though had his problems with boxing out Zaza who has a couple of inches and some pounds on him.

Yep. And his 4 rebounds were offensive rebounds.

I gather Tatum, Brown, Nader, Yabusele and maybe some other Cs are already informally practicing and working out in Waltham. It woudl be nice to get some reports, even tweets, about who exactly is present and how that is going.

Aside from an actual contending season.

Having an entire new team, 2 of them all-stars, a couple of top 3 picks in their first and second seasons, and all rookies or sophs...

I can't think of a more entertaining product to watch as a fan.

Legit every player is practically new. Only really Horford and Smart will be their old selfs. And maybe Horford starts regressing this season. Everyone else is someone we'll be evaluating in Brad's system for the first time or are very young and hopefully improves dramatically from their previous years in the NBA.

I think it is just as likely that Horford plays better. One reason: having two superior offensive players in Kyrie and Hayward means he will be getting even better looks. Another reason: he is in his second year in Brad's system and is still in his prime. He just turned 31 in June. I think he has two more years of primetime ball, maybe three. He plays a cerebral game and is always in Ray Allen-type shape. A third reason: Having Baynes around means there will be some muscle beach action so he can avoid wrestling as much with the DeAndre Jordans of the world.

Nader is the guy I feel is gonna turn heads. But it's cool that semi, theis, and yabu have upside and intangibles that has hype. Obviously tatum is gonna be good.

I think Theis will find some rotation minutes this season.

Very keen to see him in action in Boston. I think he has a shot at muscling his way into the rotation, too. If his 3 pt shot is as good as advertised, the Cs might have a steal. The D is impressive.

Added benefit: he can slug it out with Yabs in practice, which might shorten Yab's learning curve.
