IMHO - flop by the AU player acting like Deladova and then an absolute sucker punch by the AU guy. That started it and he should be banned from international play after that. What happened after that is everyone’s fault

Two high elbows to the face by the Filipino guy is what started it. Aussie teammate was 100% justified clocking him.

Yeah, second one mainly. Justifies the fight.

That staffer should be banned from ever working on a professional team. I would just like to say I've watched several Gilas Pilipinas games in the past and this was very unusual behavior from them. Not excusing what happened. That was messed up. FIBA should take appropriate action and be warier in the future. Fight shouldn't have escalated to that level.

Is there any history between y'all and Australia in international ball?

Really? A sucker punch to the jaw? When you look at the entire play you see that both guards were giving it to each other and had been for a while. The AU guard flopped on the second elbow and it barely grazed him. That sucker punch was crap

Apart from them kicking our butts every time? None that I know of. It could be the game was physical (we tend to be; I think Aussies do too) from the get-go and emotions just got the better of them.

Word. I love your country's passion for basketball. A lot of people in the states could learn a thing or two from you guys and Lithuanians when it comes to supporting the sport.

I think there was a bit of an issue pre-game with the decals on the court. Aussies wanted them removed because they were slippery, and possibly started pulling them up themsevles?

Thank you. I felt like I was going crazy reading this thread, seeing the opposite of what everyone else saw. It was obviously not a flop. Filipino dude was going at his head hard.

Not going to say that the reaction was totally proportionate, but nor was it surprising to me.

Chairs thrown, karate kicks, and brutal assault blows. This was crazy. Lifetime bans are in order and criminal charges, too.

Highlight of the brawl: 7'1" Thon Maker throwing a flying kick on the 5'11" Terrence Romeo.

The no. 7 guy is Jayson Castro, and he's actually one of the most mild-mannered Filipino players we have. He's a 10-year veteran and I've never seen him involved in a brawl so this was really shocking. But then again the Filipino player who got decked is his club teammate so he probably just wanted to have his back.

Question is, do the bucks discipline? Or the league?

Same, don't condone fighting. Sometimes it happens though. 7 landing a jump punch and then making the big guy retreat is pretty impressive

It's not a matter of having "no credibility" or being a "bad poster". Both of those things imply he is actually a Celtic fan, and just has bad takes. He is a deliberate troll who is enjoying every second of it. That should be quite clear.

It is safe to disregard him entirely.

I usually don't use the block button, but in this case, it is warranted. He offers absolutely nothing of value to this board. All of his takes are awful. If you're going to troll, at least be funny or have some sort of knowledge to back up the hot takes.
