Eh don't fire him. I do believe that next year is going to be huge for him and Brad. The offseason has not even started yet and truthfully maybe there's a deal out there that the Celtics can make.

90% of the players he drafted are not on the team and he traded in his chips for a star player that is about to go to not only a team in the same conference but same division.

We are in for yet another rebuild that I don't think Ainge is really up for.

2 of the picks turned into Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Almost all the 1st round picks from 2014 forward are on the team (Rozier, Williams, Smart, Yabusele) This year's lottery pick came from the Tatum trade, so the picks are turning into players that could be the foundation of the team.

All NBA 1st team players win titles, not could be all stars.

This thread was either going to happen today, or a year from now when Anthony Davis did what he'd been saying he'd do if the Celtics traded for him.

Glad that it's behind us now.

Those of you who want to fire Ainge really don't appreciate how truly terrible the average NBA general manager is.

If you have those 1st team NBA players locked up into long-term contracts, your chances are dramatically higher at winning titles. The Raptors and Kawhi are an anomally. Ask Golden State how they built their franchise aka they drafted Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson. Once they had those 3 in place, free agents were begging to come.

I’d eventually like to see Zarren take over.

We've got a lot of Sixers fan constantly calling for Brett Brown to be fired yet none of them can offer any real suggestions for who would be better. So let me ask, you'd sleep better at night with Dell Demps or Stan Van Gundy running the show?

About 7 of them were good enough to win a title in the last 10 years.

Sam Hinkie is who I want as gm. And I am literally the first one I know of on the internet to advocate for Ainge to be hired as Celtics gm.

But I highly suspect Sam Hinkie better. Ainge may be a slight better evaluator of talent but Hinkie blows him away in terms of strategy.

Also won the rondo trade, the trade that got us IT and the Jeff Green trade. Lost the Kyrie trade, but it was well worth the gamble and the cost is relatively low

And about 96 of them were not. How you like them odds?

Boston is too big of a market for him. Haven't been burned by our spineless owners, I doubt he would ever take a job where he wasn't 100% certain that ownership and the fan base had the patience for the master to complete his work.

There are 8 teams in the last 20 years that have won titles (other than the Celtics). It wasn't great GMing that got most of those titles. It was usually a combination of being super lucky in the draft and players colluding to form super teams.

Also correct. That and the best player to ever live having been born in the suburbs of a small city.

Way too early to make this statement.

Return to Boston Celtics
