I'm feasting on the Grant Williams highlights. Such nice touch around the basket, great footwork, really good leverage when he has a man on him in the low post. Probably going to be a subpar rebounder at the 4 given his lack of height, reach and jumping ability, but maybe he can bully the hell out of people like PJ Tucker. He looks like a better Ryan Gomes. The passing ability looks really nice too. Assist-rate in college for bigmen is one of the better predictors for NBA defense, too. 3.6 ast/36 is pretty awesome for a PF. The height and wingspan look sad, but he looks really agile and should be fine sticking with guys out to the perimeter and he won't get caught in unfavorable switches too often. If his outside shot develops, he's gonna be a longterm starter in this league. Plus he looks like if Avery Bradley had an allergic reaction to shellfish.

I think he looks kinda like Doc Rivers on steroids.

I can see that, maybe a little too much synthol in spots too.

Draymond Green was the owner of the 2012 draft’s most underrated set of skills in his ability to play defense. I’d argue that for the 2019 draft Grant Williams is also probably the owner of the draft’s most underrated skill. Except this skill — Williams’ jump shot — is not quite as easy to pick out. Yet there any number of indicators, taken in conjunction with each other, that suggest the eventual extension of Grant Williams’ jump shot to NBA 3 range, with efficiency, is more likely than not."

Agreed. 100%

Some of Danny's picks really puzzle me. This pick has JR. Giddens written all over it.

Ryan Gomes,.....Big Baby Davis?....and some others since...Can he shoot?...Maybe he's more Carmelo like?.

Wingspan is only 6'9". Draymond has a 7'2" wingspan but Grant has bigger hands.

He is ridiculously small for the modern NBA. Feel like his paint game is going to be complete swallowed up and his help D is going to be trifling. Will probably be below average on the boards too. All about how well he can move those feet on the perimeter, hit Js and pass from the high post.

I think his strength will help him offset the size he will give up at times.

Williams' game translated is predicated on stretching to 3. The rest of his game plays at SF. He's got excellent vision for his size, tough as hell, draws fouls, smart defender, finishes extremely well at the rim.

There were 5-6 guys in this draft with high BBIQ, and Williams is one of them. Alexander-Walker is another.

Compares his game to undersized PFs Draymond Green and PJ Tucker, which definitely aren't bad names. Interestingly he says he's a better shooter than Tucker. I think he's a better scorer than those 2.

As a 6'7" PF, he likely wouldn't have made it in the 90s and 2000s but these days most 4s are SFs anyways (or stretch bigs), so he'll be fine. He'll probably even dominate these perimeter forwards in the post.
