Thies is getting the money because the plan is to play Tatum and eventually Grant Williams at the Power forward minutes. Guys like Morris want to start or be the first big off the bench and take a bunch of shots. Thies knows his role and won't cause any problems while we develop our young players.

We couldn't. You can't offer contracts like that. We could give just one - we chose Kanter. That's it. Now we can offer only minimum contracts.

For this particular team Theis is valuable for the reasons you stated but also because he is our only experienced big who can stretch the floor. And if he is back to 100% he can play some D. I think he’s a decent player.

Kanter is worth his money but I don't know why they stuck with Theis over some other names out there. I guess they wanted to keep someone who is familiar with the system/team. Theis seems like deadline salary matching trade bait to me.

Yup don’t understand that signing either. Should have gone after Stein, who is a legit 7’. While Theis is just 6’8. We needed size, and our young big guys aren’t ready to contribute.

Walker was a good Celtic. An excellent Celtic who made a handful of all-star teams. I don’t think we should treat him like a bum.

Must be the most expensive lottery pick in the history of sports. No wonder why Kemba left that franchise.

He’s decent alright just as long as you don’t have him guard the likes of giannis, embiid and drummond. He would have been ok if we had rim protection already, ut we don’t.

Couldn't sign 2 $5mm guys without resigning Theis. Kanter was signed with an exception.

Rozier is a good prospect. Should score a lot of PTs in Charlotte.

I believe that:
-- Theis has won at least one Defensive Player of the Year award.
-- Theis has never won an Offensive Player of the Year award.

Stein signed for a slightly above the minimum.

That’s why we really need Rob to step up soon. It would be amazing if he could show himself to be that rim protector we have been looking for forever.

Oh I understand, thanks. Then I’d rather have had Theis + Ed Davis/WCS/Mcgee

Right, but I think Kanter brings an offensive skillset we are unlikely to replicate with those guys. I imagine they envision Williams with the defensive/vertical skillset of those guys you mentioned (even if he still needs work to get there). We should probably look at the Celtics big men like a swiss-army knife. We employ them selectively given a certain situation as complementary pieces.

Brad should give him the minutes.

I had Kemba picking either 8 or 11, and he did. Not bad marketing either.

I’m confused, is he going to have a press conference or no?

Not to be conspiracy theorist here but this is similar to Hayward/Irving....

Ainge expecting a trade for Bradley Beal in August!?!?! /itshappening
