With his injury issues, would he really opt out of $34 million?

As healthy as he is right now? Yes, no question he opts out. I'd love to resign him to like 3 years, $90m.

He literally said he's not 100% but ok.

First off unless Hayward and family just don't like Boston I dont see him opting out. He's not gonna get another huge deal. He wont get more than 15 mil a year I don't think for anything more than 3.

He will opt in. So again I dont see anyone dealing for Hayward that makes us better. It will be a bad contract swap.

We still need depth. Our biggest issue isn't talent at the top level. It's staying healthy and having a bench to help us survive the season

A move to fortify the bench is the best move IMO

That would be a terrible use of capspace.

Team would have 4 players at or near 30 million with no chance of winning a championship.

Would be a completely terrible move. Terrible.

It's not really a use of cap space. We have no Cap space, unless we want to renounce Tatum or something.

If we can resign Hayward on a fair deal we have to do it.

I don't think the problem is a big man or the bench. The problem is the first unit falling behind by double digits every game. These games are being lost in the first quarter, not the second, third or fourth.

Yep this upcoming free agent class sucks and some team will give him 4 & 100+.

If Hayward resigns for 3 & 90, they should be able to stay under the luxury tax next year, but probably exceed it in 2021-22 when Tatum's pay goes way up. Walker has an option in 2022, so they may only be in the last luxury tax for a year.

If they cant deal Hayward for a starter at the deadline, resigning him seems like the best option given they wont have much cap space, if he goes elsewhere.

While I agree. I do think lack of depth is an issue. We cant really turn to anyone on bench to give us a spark we need at times and with starters seemingly out all the time guys stepping in rarely are stater capable

I wish there was some way to have hope for a trade again for a healthy elite player.....last year we would just move onto Anthony Davis hopes and dreams.

I can't help but just think this team is too damn small. You watch them vs. the Bucks or Sixers and you see it, they are SMALL. It's not all their fault either, it's teeny weeny goodness. These suckers try hard at times.

First of all, that's Jaylen.

Second, what's your plan?

I really hope the Jaylen contract doesn't bite us. I was a bit shocked when it happened, I figured he would have to earn it this season. I understand why it happened, but I still found it suprising at the time.

Now we have to max Tatum too? lol

Don't get me wrong, I like these guys. But.....yeah......

I disagree.

A center that has size and can defends, rebound and hit 3s and bench scoring and this team can be a legit threat.

Certainly in the short/intermediate term. Presumably, if he'd been untampered with and staying we'd have kept Baynes as well (and not signed Kanter). We'd have had to swap some picks away to get Kemba too (because Brooklyn would have had us over a barrel), but so be it.

Nah. It was time to move on from him. I'm glad he's gone.

I guess Kemba was unlikely if Al opted in, but having Horford on a 1 year deal right now would be massive.
