Myles Turner is so good that Popovich played Jaylen Brown at center for Team USA instead.
I could stomach a Hayward trade for him, but he's not some up-and-comer.

I'm not in favor of trading Jaylen except in one of these deals where some franchise has to trade away a top player in the league before he leaves in free agency and has the leverage to insist on a valuable consolation prize coming back. He fits our team and timeline perfectly.

Agreed and that list is not long — currently GA and/or KAT (even though the latter is such a loser at the pro level). If Ayton were to continue to develop and PHO to continue to suck maybe him as well... who else?

We are trading for a skillset that improves the team as a whole. Not because he sucks on his current team and system. We need a bigman, who is available other than Turner?

What about Howard? LAL are starting him and probably going to win a title, but he has a very small role. I know all the reasons everyone hates the guy, so no need to recap them, but it seems like he might have finally turned over a new leaf- excepting a smaller role. We might be able to lure him away from LAL by offering him a bigger small role on a team almost as good.
Speaking of "washed up players" who seem to not be washed up after all... What about Melo? All the arguments against him before were basically, we would be stupid to trade anything for him. Sure. Correct. But now he'd be free. We have a better title shot than Portland. We need bench scoring. Maybe Tatum and Brown could learn a thing or 2 from him.

Vucevic is my pipe dream. Orlando just signed him to a 4-year contract, and they're not competing anytime soon (+Isaac is out next year). Then they have Bamba who they'll probably start pushing to see what they've got in him before his rookie contract is up.

We need for Timelord to develop.
SO my suggestions for a big man are as follows. Some need a trade, some need MLE:
Aron Baynes
Naz Reid
Valanciunas
Dieng
Bryant
Theis was 18th in Value added this past season, and Kanter was 16th in value added. Center is not a glaring weakness on this team, contrary to popular belief(Turner was 30 in value added FYI)
Baynes would bring toughness, shotblocking and better floor spacing as well as his maturity and fun attitude. Perfect add for a season, allows for Theis to come off bench at the PF spot with Kanter at Center.
Naz Reid, very nicely developing offensive game. Good rebounder, high energy, not a great rim protector, but is learning fast. COuld be better than Timelord.
JV, strong, sets great screens, can shoot the three. Good shotblocker, excellent rebounder, can defend his space but isnt the best at switching.
Dieng, kind of a cross between Baynes and JV with a more footspeed. Would be a great mentor for Timelord, is an expiring deal.
Bryant is young and has potential to be a top 10 center in the nba.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread, Part 2
I have solved the offseason! Maybe!
Dallas in: Hayward
out: THJ, Wright, 18 and 31
reasons...blah, blah, blah
Memphis in: THJ, Poirier
out: Dieng
Memphis adds a floor spacer at the wing (a need) and move one of their multiple centers (a need) add no extra salary (great)
Detroit in: Wright, Edwards, #14, #26, #30, #47
out: #7
Detroit needs players with only 9 under contract, this allows them to swing for the fences this offseason, tank out and run all young guys.
Boston in: Dieng, #7, #18, #31
out: Hayward, edwards, Poirier, #14, #26, #30, #47
Boston adds a legit center who can block shots, rebound, and shoot threes while playing above average defense. Should be able to grab the picks they like at these spots and will be far enough below the tax to use the MLE. (118.2 million in salary before signing draft picks)
Haliburton at 7
Bane, Ramsey, Terry, Bey etc at 18
#31 is Joe or BPA
MLE on vet wing and pg
Kemba/Haliburton (#7)/MLE
Smart/Romeo/Joe (#31)
Brown/Bane (#18)/MLE
Tatum/Theis/GrantW
Dieng/Kanter/Timelord

Re: Trade Ideas Thread, Part 2
Hi, guys. I love what Hayward brings but I also am intrigued about the value of a max salary slot MINUS Hayward on the team. I’m bad at contract stuff.
Could Celtics make a deal for Aldridge and Rudy Gay ( a talent win for SA )and then because these two guys then expire that opens a max salary slot for us to be players in free agency?
If this is the case it sounds great to me but when Giannis can only go to 1 team, can we essentially keep that slot open for the next season? Sorry if this was confusing. Thanks!!

Dropping Haywards salary right now would not open up room for a max contract.

Knicks in: Kemba, Budy Hield, #26, #30
out: Denis Smith Jr, Taj Gibson, Bobby Portis #8
Kings in: Hayward, Portis
out: Buddy, Barnes
Boston out: Kemba, Hayward, #26, #30
in: Barnes, Gibson, Smith Jr, #8
Boston moves their 2 highest salaries and go all in on the young guys, have 2 lotto picks in this draft and drop 31 million in salary (TPE created) could use TPE and a pick for a star or just let team stand.
Smart/Haliburton (7)
Brown/Romeo
Tatum/Bane(14)
Barnes/GrantW
Theis/Kanter/Timelord
Team payroll next offseason would be only 81 million (before picks and before tatum extension) should have enough to offer a max contract in the summer of 2021.

With all the trades I propose, that is one I considered a couple of times.
There is no doubt that Aldridge is a definite upgrade to Theis. and he is a large expiring. could work
Gay brings some bench offense.
both good vets.
be interesting trade
Think Spurs would do:
Hayward, Kanter
for
Aldridge, Gay,
Kemba/Edwards
Smart/Romeo
Brown/Gay
Tatum/GrantW
Aldridge/Theis/Timelord/Poirier

Re: Trade Ideas Thread, Part 2
Think Dallas would trade Brunson for Poirier and Semi?
They get a big strong defender and a big man to cover for Powells return at no long term salary.
We get their 3rd pg and one who I think would excell in a stevens' system

Aldridge is 35 years old and just had shoulder surgery. Plus, he has never developed a three point shot. No thanks.
And Miles Turner isn't happening. Pritchard has to find an Oladipo deal first. And Frankly I'd rather get Sabonis.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread, Part 2
I was under the impression that after Aldridge and Gay’s seasons were up here that we’d have this max salary slot Open so it’d be worth the talent drop. My bad.
If we don’t break up the core, somehow stay healthy, Add a Baynes at the mid level( seems a stretch), draft a sharpshooter like Desmond Bane ( or whoever you perceive to be a great shooter coming in, WHO do you think is worth giving up first round pick or picks for?
JJ Reddick
Derrick Rose
Maybe it’s still another big instead? It seems like things like this COULD be done. But is it good enough? I don’t know.
