I guess you took a break from the Celtics in 2019-2020? Hayward was a tremendously efficient player in his last year (50.0%/38.3%/85.5%). It's not all about the points, Hayward did a little bit of everything. His presence on the floor made this team much better, almost every time. If you expected his impact to be only measured by points, then you probably forgot that he was the 4th option—yet he managed to average 17.5 ppg. What did you expect, four 26ppg scorers?
The experiment didn't work because of his injuries. Came off the bench when he was asked to, never pouted (despite some comments to that effect on this forum), and that was it. Was the price tag justified? Probably not. But he didn't do anything wrong.
